Can anyone share experience about online vs offline poker

Hello everyone!

I have played poker many years with my friend group in Turkey previously, also played some on PokerStars, then government forbid online poker so I dropped PokerStars. Now I've moved to Hamburg, Germany. I've started again on PokerStars, also I saw 2-3 offline poker areas in Hamburg, but I've never been in casino previously.

My questions:
- Which one is more tough / easy to play?
- How is rakes between online vs offline?
- Should I try offline (I really like to play in real life than online) or sticking online is better?

Any tips or comparison is welcome just want to hear your thoughts :f_drink:

PS: When I say online you can consider PokerStars level :f_tongue:

Although this is a very old thread, I still want to reply here.
Not sure why nobody replied, is the forum dead? Don't think so.

Differences between offline and online poker cash games (besides the obvious fact that you have physical read on your opponents while playing live) are:

- the stakes in live poker are higher, in my country the stakes are (SB-BB) €2-€2, €2-€4, €5-€10, etc. While online you can play for as little as $0.01-$0.02 and up
- rake is higher in live play
- tables are generally softer, there will be players that visit the casino playing roulette and slots and take a shot at poker, so less regular poker players compared to online

Offline can be a lot of fun, it is more social than playing online.

Biggest differences:
- Rake structure (live rake is huge).
- Softer live field (way softer on the smallest live stakes).
- Live play is slow pace.
- Live stakes are bigger.
- Schedules (at least where I play casinos don't have games running 24/7).

While live play sounds more fun, online sounds more "grindish".
