JJ in 3-bet pot

Maybe I'm too nitty, but in a 3bet pot, I basically treat JJ as "just a pair" and only setmine
That said, I would fold otf.

hmmm, didn't notice the small bet. Flop is at least a call now, but maybe a raise is better. That 1/3potbet smells weak, and also we have a gutshot.

Turn, I think it's best to fold. There really isn't a save card to get otr to get much value from. Flush may be beat, a set may be beat. Best scenario is a check-check on the river, with the money invested befroe the turn, It's not worth it imo.

that would be 88+,AJ+,KQs,QJs,AQo,KQo. On the flop his range is best 65% of the time , his ranges equity is 57% versus your hands equity of 42% ( I'm typing this out to help myself learn equities ) Villain C-bets 1/3 pot kind of odd on a fishy board. Flopzilla says villain has top pair 36% of the time , an overpair 16%, and a set 12% of the time, he could have gutshot 36% of the time with AK and AJ. On turn when he bets half pot your getting 3:1 on a call, you have a gutter 4 outs + any spade for flush 9 outs + 2 other jacks in deck for a set =15 outs to improve, its not clear if the J would help you given the board texture but its there. hard not to call on the turn when he only bets half pot , your beating only AK and AJ out of his range but its w.e . Villain really should have value bet the river I think.

Very good approach to it, killacasey. Indeed, looking at it, we still have a few odds at the pot with the draws.

One thing I think we should look for, though, is that after betting 2 streets the ranges get even narrower (even more as it is a 3-bet pot). Looking at it folding or calling the turn are both acceptable plays, but I'd be inclined to fold it more than not from here on out.

I like the line used by the villain there, I'd have played exactly the same, maybe with larger bet sizes. Being out of position on the river with lots of busted draws, he would only get called by hands that beat him, wouldn't he? If he was IP maybe he could get 3 streets of value, but TPTK is kinda risky for that.

depends on the players, given your line of play you might have had a draw of some sort but also could have had a pair, he has top pair top kicker against some villains they would call a bet on the river with JJ
