BB should usually have a wider calling range than the SB. Big Blind can usually call a raise with a wider range than SB consisting of most broad-ways, and a ton of suited middle/weak hands because he is the last player to act and has the 1bb forced bet in the pot which will help his pot odds where-as with SB he has to worry about 1 player left to act and has less invested into the pot already so he should tighten his calling range usually. The 2nd factor is the position of the Original Raiser, against UTG we should have a tighter calling range.
This actually makes it so SB's calling range should be much tighter than most would think, A decent range for SB in this situation would be ;
Raising with; QQ+AKs
Calling with : JJ-77,AQs-ATs,KJs+,QJs,JTs,T9s,98s,AQo+
3-bet bluffing with; A5s, 98s, 87s ( you don't have to bluff this is just to balance our premiums)
However if it was just BB who called UTG's raise BB's range could be something like
Raising with; QQ+, AKs, AQs
Calling with; JJ-22,AJs-A2s,K5s+,Q7s+,J7s+,T7s+,96s+,87s,ATo+,KTo+,QTo+,JTo
3-bet bluffing with; 86s,75s+,64s+,54s,43s ( you don't have to do this but its for balance)
If you type these calling range into Equilab you will see BB will be having alot more of the middle and weaker suited cards in this situation and SB having some middle pairs/middle cards and some stronger broad-way hands
the hand played out odd, I would have thought about just calling the river bet, Villain is representing strength and and when you re-raise on the river you are only getting called by hands that beat you unless you know this guy is out of line. When I bring the stats to the river SB has ;
full house 4%
over-pair 24.3%
PP below TP 8.11%
Ace-high 36.5%
No made hand 27%
the range I gave him is a good standard though I don't know what type of player villain is it could differ.
