Helloo,

Decided to post on this forum after such a long time, soo hopefully I wont regret it haha:)

Okay, my main question is about the flop play with our range.. both players are fishes. MP- 71/32(35) and
SB player is 73/23 (30). On this dry texture we do not need that much of a protection.. on the other hand their ranges especially the SB range is supposed to be pretty strong. So I doubt that we have enough fold equity to profitable bet with a bluff, soo do we want to ever be cbetting some bluffs on this texture?
Some of our aces have only 2 streets of value. (AJ-A2s probably not all of them are in our range). I mean since we are IP it is easy to bet f,t and x/back river. However, on the turn like this I would rather just pot control.. since pocket pairs might be afraid of a card like Q. But then do we want to call the river bet (I mean line b/x/?) with a hand like this or AT,AJ.

Thoughts?:)

I think you played it ok villain likely isn't turning KQs in to a bluff on the river and TJs might not be in their calling range so they have AJs AQs AK QQ mostly i would think.

I really like your line.
You can call any Ax OTR. You should fold at NL5 though, they don't bluff.

I think you need to protect your hand more in a multi-way pot don’t you?You could bet and get called by weaker PP perhaps if by fish you mean calling station type. You havnt described if they are aggressive fish or not. Sometimes aggro fish attack checks with a wide range. MDF is 42% if villain is capable of bluffing.

Well, unfortunately, I do not know with what type of fish are we dealing with.. but I think we can say that generally they do not bluff enough.. given he called call 3bet, even if he was a reg, he is going to have a hard time finding enough bluffs in his range. I mean he has to turn his weaker pocket pairs into a bluff to stay balanced. This is highly assumptive even when we are dealing just with a reg, not even against a fish..

You have 30 hands on someone and you can’t tell if they are playing aggro? I can tell fairly quickly what type of opponents I’m dealing with, if they are playing every pot they are fish but that is not enough I am looking to see how often they are calling bets and if they are attacking checks , betting rivers , being aggressive etc. Your job is to find out what type of players your dealing with, we are not talking about balance here

I mentioned balance, because it is closely connected. Once he does not have as much bluff as he should have in theory, he is not balanced and therefore we can justify folding more exploitatively in a spot like this.

Well, sometimes you can say even after few hands of playing with what kind of player are u dealing with, however, these are the extreme types of players. He has not shown this kind of volatility yet. Sometimes they are 50 hands playing pretty calm and suddenly they start to pull the trigger and become overaggressive just because 1hand or so.

I would say that in special case that he is an overaggressive guy, we should be calling here. However, this is the only one scenario which happens less frequently than all the other cases. Therefore concluding that he is an aggro guy would be too assumptive..

I beg to differ, not really sure what you mean by someone playing 50 hands and only having the word “calm” to describe them. You have to figure out who you are playing against , this usually means observing hole cards when you can and looking for tendencies, makes your decisions at the table easier. You said the reg/fish has to turn some hands into bluffs to stay balanced , So you think that player type is thinking or using balance with their ranges ?? You just said he was calm and then went aggro for 1 hand that’s the opposite of balance. If he is weak/straightforward it could be an easy muck but it seems like you don’t actually know anything about the opponent dispite playing 50 hands with them. Is he a fish or is he tight? you’ve done a poor job at explaining

Okay, I think its getting a bit out of the way..
To conclude, I had 30 hands on him, playing 73/23. I havent seen any hole cards (maybe I did, but it was not something special which would surprise me).. either because I missed his action or because he has not shown any yet. All I know about him basically is that he is a fish. I have not categorized him into aggro/spewy/passive..., because I did not have enough evidence.
I hope, now its much more clear.

I mean it is a good point to focus on and I am glad that it opens my eye in terms of another perspective.. if it wanted to be your message.. and I will definitely keep that in mind in the next session:)

I prefer to play 2 tables instead of 4 it makes it easier for me personally to try to maximally exploit people at the table, I don’t have a HUD so I’m a note taker. It gets boring when I’m not in a hand just watching random people play but it feels good when observing them pays off. After a hand is done that went to showdown I open the hand again and look how people played their hands gives me a lot of knowledge about them.

Ex. Player x likes to check call with his draws instead of betting, or player y Capable of x/r flop with top pair decent kicker. The good ones to look for are ones like player Z called 3 streets with bottom pair after turn and river bring more over-cards . good people to value bet against fairly wide if you find them doing so a few times with such marginal hand.
