Straight facing river all-in

With no stats it's a difficult spot.
I think if he had pocket 7 or 6 (so, a full house on the turn) he would play differently.
On the river, You're behind to pocket tens or J8 (J8 is very unlikely to a call PF).
Unless i had notes that villain like slowplay monster hands, i would call.

Flop I'm checking, that board is better for the IP player.
Turn I'm checking always after the call. He has much more 9x (K9s, Q9s, J9s) than you have.
I don't know how to play this river after the flop and turn action, this is a spot I'm never putting myself into.
As played it's a call I guess, although he can have some full-houses. As a general rule, I believe people would raise them OTF. He only has one combo of 99 and 3 combos of TT, which is the hand I think he will show up with more often at showdown. Raising a hand like 87s, 98s after your line doesn't make much sense.

I would have played it exactly as you did and fold to the river raise.
Flop bet for protection od flushes and overcards.
Turn the same.
And river bet for value vs overpairs, maybe A9s and suited two pairs.
Problem is, these cards should not raise and all we can hope for is a bad played 9, since he raises.
I think we need to fold. ( Although I would have never been able to do so at the table.)

He had quads :f_ugly:, and yes I think overall it's a river fold as he wouldn't push light.

I don't think we should check this board on the flop or turn. Villains range is wider than just a 9 or so. The 9 on the turn is better for us than him most of the time I think as he will float flop with flush draws backdoor draws with A of spade. And yes he can also have a 6 or 7 which will fold to aggression. I am also betting turn half pot as I can improve my hand if he does not fold.
Sure he can have 9x but less than other things. Also its UTG vs BU, unless 9Ts there is not alot of 9s he will call with usually. I am killing 9J, 9Q, 9K, 9A range wise pre-flop so I don't think villain will call this as if he hits his broadway he can still be behind.
This was my reasoning anyway for double barreling.
