Should I min bet at least on the river, or is check better? My plan was to fold to any bet bigger than 10bb. This was the first hand of the session, so I have no info on the other guys.

I'll vote for the check.
Reasons:
:diamond:  paired board normally this is bet/fold for me when the board pairs OTR, but since opponent is unknown, take the low-variance option to see what he played. Even the nut straight on a paired board is to be treated very carefully.
:diamond:  As you mentioned, lower-end straight. Check for same reasons

If you do bet, don't min-bet. Put some muscle in it -- but not too much.
1/3 to 1/2 would be right here...
You can get called by aces-up or even some other two-pair hands, trips and sets.
