I have moved your hand to our NLHE hand discussion forum. There fits it better.

On a min raise I can't fold the river. Off course it looks really strong, but you get insane odds.
What's the reason you Cbet so much on the river?

Cheers,

I bet that much on river for protection, I figure villian didn't have an A as he didn't raise preflop, so at that moment in time wanted to win the pot cause I figured I had the best hand, as well as I didn't want to see any paint cards.. reason for the bet on turn an river, was for value as a high card didn't come out.

Ty for moving thread, not sure even what I put it under. TY

When you bet pot on the river what are you looking to be called by? You mention you dont give his range many aces, what would he call with?

10 any kicker.. his WTSD was 36…. Which in the end I went with the raise I should have let it go when he reraised me, which was my mistake, I just got greedy and wasn’t paying enough attention.

Lesson to learn from, not my first mistake, or my last. I am sure of that…. Many more mistakes to come.. 👍

Never go broke in an unraised pot.

As you point out, you have no information whatsoever about SB's range.

Tough outcome not sure where to play it differently.

When you make a bet its for one of two reasons:

-to bet for value in which you expect worse can call

-to bluff in which you believe better hands will fold.

If you bet pot on the river for value we need to think of worse hands that would call to justify. When villain re-raises a pot sized bet on the river it is screaming strength, most weaker small stakes players will not make these river plays as bluff. What are we expecting to beat out of villains value range on the river to justify a call? He’s very polarized and most people dont really check raise bluff the river

I don't see a reason to bet for protection on the river with in mind villain can't improve any more. I think a half pot value Cbet is big enough with the over bet it it will be less likely you get action of a weaker hand.

I agree, river was a value bet, hitting 2 pair… not to sure why the above post I put for protection, that wouldn’t make any sense..

I guess at the time as Casey brought up I was thinking more about that possibly villain had an A, that’s why I bet pot maybe….

Main reason for my post, I know I messed up somewhere along the line and can admit that, maybe it was my thinking at that time or a total mis read of villain and the hand combined…. Either way it was a very misplayed hand.

Cheers! Thanks for all feedback.

We are all here to grind and get better, making mistakes is how we learn. I make tons of mistakes myself these these things are alot harder to think about at the table under pressure compared to having myself on a forum anaylzing a hand. Don’t worry about messing up I would be proud of yourself for being able to spot a mistake and identifying what needs work. Many people cant do that. Thanks for sharing the hand.
