questionable turn call HU

I would just fold the turn. You have only 4 outs for a straight and if your ace is life you have 3 more outs to win. I would expect villain has most of the time a made hand. A bluff makes no sense I think.

I agree with you on the turn fold, but why do you calculate with 4 outs for a straight? He has a double gutter on the turn and can make a straight with an 8 or a queen. There are QJ combos in his range, which the 8 don’t help against, but there are sets and two pairs in his range as well.

Also agree on the bluff catching. That’s the last thing I want to do on NL2, especially with A high. If we know he bluffs often, we have better hands to bliffcatch with (Tx, 9x, 7x for example).

Almost forgot to mention, I like your isoraise size preflop. (Against a limper we call it isolation raise, not 3bet)

You should try to write shorter notes. Like: P iso/call w KK F KT4 4way donk 1/2 T J HU bet 1/2 R 6 ch

I think on the flop your bet is to polarized, I really dont like the bet sizing. At that moment you probably have the worst hand and all you are accomplishing is bloating the pot UP. I would prefer a 1/3 pot bet to keep it small as cards are needed on turn to barrel.

As for turn the king is probably the best card for us besides the 8h, now we pick up a double gutter and at least one of them is the NUT draw. I find his play a little confusing at first not knowing villains hand, he is playing it more like a draw hand with only a 1/2 pot bet, if he had a 2 pr + set or str8 i think he would bet bigger trying to close out pot with so many draws and get value from made hands..

IMO i dont have a problem how the hand was played i like the half pot call on turn, yes it isnt the greatest Pot odds spot for a call but villain could have qx or 8x he decide to defend with. With out hitting the river and Sb checking i would think about a bluff tho IP. as you have the blockers to nut str8, and especially with him slowing down. But if not i like the check SD value with the A high.

I think SB would have a condensed range by flatting pre-flop with BB and UTG left to act, Idk if you want to bet the flop all of the time here as I don't know if we have range advantage if you don't have the range advantage I think betting about 80% pot is good because you have draw + over-cards and can bet polarized. when villain check/calls flop I think his range is marginal made hands maybe some hands like A7,A9,QTs,JTs, K9s, some hands like KJs or QJs might call with the overcard's and draws. On the turn I when villain leads I would give him a range of mostly premium hands like QJs,KTs, maybe KJs. I would probrably fold the turn because I think the K improves a lot of his range that would lead out here.
