PokerStars Zoom, Hold'em No Limit - $0.01/$0.02 - 6 players
Hand delivered by Upswing Poker

UTG: $2.31 (116 bb)
MP: $1.46 (73 bb)
CO: $2.90 (145 bb)
BU: $2.27 (114 bb)
SB: $0.72 (36 bb)
BB (Hero): $7.87 (394 bb)

Pre-Flop: ($0.03) Hero is BB with A 9
3 players fold, BTN raises to $0.06, SB calls $0.05, Hero 3-bets to $0.26, 1 fold, SB calls $0.20

Flop: ($0.58) Q J 9 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.18, SB calls $0.18

Turn: ($0.94) 6 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.44, SB calls $0.28 (all-in)

When SB called I was very confused how to handle this on the flop. The pot is 58c and he has 48c behind, I have bottom pair with backdoor draws. Was not sure how to play this, if we check what are the chances he shoves all in on the turn? I felt like the chances were good he may do this, is this incorrect thinking? seems like these fishy broken stack players can be pretty unpredictable. Maybe checking flop with the idea of calling turn on a decent card is better than shoving flop ourselves? I opted for 1/3 pot and I'm not sure what to think about this action.

When heads up vs a short stack, unless you're giving up for whatever reason, just put them all-in at the first opportunity.
Here, OTF SB has just about exactly the size of the pot remaining in his stack.
You're never folding, so give SB the chance to do so

Just calling pre-flop seems fine as well. A9s has decent playability post-flop and now you have the luck you have position on the short stack in a decent pot. As played I would shove the flop for 48c effective with bottom pair and backdoor flush draw.
