Maybe a fold pre, seems to get into trouble?

No maybe about it, I'm folding this pre.
If UTG is very wildly loose, I might call, but that would be a rarity.

In the CO I do not have a flatting range at all. You can have a flatting range on the BTN. But J8s should not be part of it, except maybe when the blinds are passive players/fish and the open raiser is a fish, too.

It seems to me that raising them is overplaying them, and folding them is a waste of very good opportunities

I 3bet them all day long. There is really no question about it.

You could think of 3bet bluff here, but it depends on the villain in this hand. On NL2 would be a fold most of the time I think.

Post-flop seems standard. Sometimes you could think of a thin value bet on the river, but than you need to fold against a raise.
