Hey guys I am BobC222
I actually have a bet with someone on a betting order in 7 card stud. OK here goes if there are 4 players and the up cards are as follows. I am dealing. The person to my left has AKQJ, the person to his left has 5678, The person to his left has AKQ9, and me the dealer has 4567. Obviously the AKQJ is the betting person, and we tell him it is his bet. For some strange reason that person just says he is out instead of checking and folds his cards. The person that I have this debate with says the next bet goes to the next highest hand showing. I am saying he is wrong that it goes to the person to the left of the one with AKQJ being the 5678, and NOT the one with the AKQ9.
Can someone please solve this argument for us

It should always go to the player to the left like you said. Otherwise instead of being second with 2 players left to act, the 8 gets to be last to act. The one who was first to act (AKQJ) already made a decision, and all of a sudden all of you should switch the action order? Makes no sense. But I have no idea what are the actual official rules that casinos follow.

Welcome to PokerStrategy.com 
Rules may vary from casino to casino, however nsavov is quite correct. Don't think of it as "bet" think of it as "action on".
So the action is on the best hand showing, then in proceeds clockwise from there. His action was to fold, so the person on his left is next.
