Afternoon ladies and gents. I'm new round here and looking for some advice.
Hope you're all doing well, I have started a Bankroll Challenge playing Spin and Go's to try and improve my game. I have a few questions about studying and improving at Spin and Go's, just looking to give myself a good place to start in conjunction with the beginner strategy offered here. The strategy itself is very straight forward, easy to digest and understand. Should not have a lot of problems memorizing and implementing that.
The problems I am having is coming to grips with reviewing and studying these things. I'm not really sure where to start TBH. Great, I can implement the strategy and identify +EV shoves at a particular stack size. Now what, how do I start plotting the path to improvement? How do I start figuring out if what I'm doing and thinking is actually any good?
We'll start with the obstacle.
Can't have a tracker running while playing. Listen i know, I could have chosen a better tree to punch, but this is the brush we are cutting down....I believe I can solve enough of this with a sheet tracking the following during play:
# Buy-ins, Win's/Losses ( I can put this into PT4 to graph and track results)
Bust out hands : Effective Stack, People left, My hand and Position and likely range of hands i give Villain and reasons for shoving.
If there's something else that could be added in here I'm all ears.
Study and Review:
-I'm going to spend 1 hr pre game doing memorization exercises to pound the ranges in. I'm also going to spend some time looking each one over looking for different thresholds. Example: at what stack size do we start shoving Suited Connectors from the SB
- I would think power equilab and running my hand vs the range I gave Villain on a played hand would be a good place to start with understanding equity. At least I would have an idea of what my equity is in that spot with those holdings vs the range I gave him.
-I would also think trying to understand when i should and shouldn't call shoves would be pretty helpful-I don't even know where to start here TBH.
If anyone with helpful tips or things that helped them come to grips with it I would be very grateful.
I don't want to say anything bad about PokerStrategy, but the reality is that they do not focus much on the Spin & Go strategy and content anymore. The good news for you is that nowadays, you don't have to go through everything alone and build the strategy from scratch; there are poker schools that have dedicated years to this particular poker variant
