Is S/MSS a thing in 2024?

I have some money in JackPocker which I used mostly for the promotion that gives you 10SP to raise my status to silver and messing around with the site. I have like $80 which I plan to increase a bit with freerolls and wonder how to get the occasional strategy point here and there. My initial choice was MTTs, but then I started wondering about other options. Unfortunately the lowest cash limit is NL10 so I'm not really rolled for it ATM. Anyways I was thinking about trying Mid Stack Strategy, but I'm not sure if it's still a thing that can be profitable (or even BE) especially given that the 8handed tables have straddle and antes so they're draining your stack way faster than 6 handed games. I'd love to get some thoughts on the topic.

I'm not a fan of either, although back in the day when full-ring tables were full of people that didn't know what they were doing, SSS was a pretty good bankroll builder. By the time I tried MSS people had learned a thing or two, and any time I opened a hand I got 3Bet — often all-in. I don't play either strategy ever.

It would be great to hear from people that actually make a success out of either strategy.

Yeah this is my concern as well... I will probably give it a go for some short sessions in the future and see how it goes. Maybe there is enough fish for it to be profitable...

I expect it could be profitable, but with a $80 NL10 MSS is already tricky with only 20 buy-inns of 40bb.
The variance will be higher with in mind you play earlier for stacks, but I expect people that are familiar with BSS it's sometimes tough to adjust to <40bb stacks. Especially with (big) antes the variance will increase even more. Off course people like to play more short handed these days than full ring.

Yeah, I know I don't have enough bank for it. That's why I'm focusing on freerolls for now. We'll see how it goes. Probably I will just deposit more money next month and see how much I can earn from the freerolls till then
