Hi,

his line looks a lot like Kx, maybe KJ.
I'd bet/call 29$ against that agressive villain.
Only reasonable hands that beat you: KQ, K8s maybe QT
If he has sth like J9 or 96 so be it.

Let's see what the judges think.

Best regards,
Anin

i'd just bet\fold all the streets here. Dont think AF matters so much - he will bluff raise us very rarely. So river is bet 30 \ fold on push for me

Fold preflop, T7o plays terrible OOP (even vs a guy that tight i don't think it's +EV to raise it).

As played i'd bet/fold the turn and on the river i'd check and fold to a bet because he's not going to bet weaker hands (and especially no bluffs).

Once again about the AF: Don't only look at this stat. You always have to put in in relation the VPIP.
He has a high AF but he's really tight. Being that tight means he has a hand most of the time once he gets to the flop, so (so he can bet and/or raise a high percentage of the time) he's aggro but he's not bluffing.

Very good replies!

The fold preflop part just fixed a leak of mine I think. Until now I was quite often stealing the BB from the SB. Now that you said so I checked in HM my results by doing that: minus $378.30 over 711 hands. Most problems cause of after the flop play.

In this hand I bet/folded $30 by the way (he pushed).

With less raising there I do get new questions though:

With what kind of hands should we open from the SB vs BB? And what a bout limping? Folding better then limping?

Bierbaer, why u think bet on river is bad? We had much hands to get value from (Kx, mb even Qx like QJ). Agreed with folding.

And what a bout limping? Folding better then limping?

Completing when folded to you is terrible. U should not use it at all i think. Its exploitable and its really hard to mix it with strong hands.

limping is bad, don't open limp...

as for SB stealing range, you should tighten up to about 20% range especially if villian is aggressive and will float you or 3bet you preflop. Though if BB is a total nit I might widen it to 40-50%. With that being said, T7o is a shit hand that shouldn't even be opened at all.

First of all: Never openlimp in the SB (there are rare exceptions where i actually do openlimp, but never in the small blind and this happens somewhere around 1 hand in 5000).

The raisingrange depends on the opponent, this really is a complex theme, it would go beyond the scope of this thread to cover it and there is a strategy-article about it, unfortunately it requires the platin status.

Personally against unknowns i raise a range that looks somewhat like
22+, A2s+, K9s+, QTs+, T8s+, 76s+, A9o+, KTo+, QTo+, JTo+,
so about 22% of hands.
But again: this is very general and against some opponents you can definitely raise a wider range.
If the opponent is very good i even tighten up more because playing OOP is easily exploitable.

Think about what calls your bet:

Kx, yes, but K9s, KJ and AK are the only ones which you beat - and AK 3bets preflop oftentimes.
Qx? Maybe, but he's also folding Qx (like Q9s and QJ) sometimes and he 3bets AQ preflop.
Furthermore he's raising QJ on the flop sometimes.
So there are 3 combos of K9s, 12 combos of KJ and lets say he has 2 combos of AK.
There are 3 combos of Q9s (assuming he always calls them) and lets say he has 6 combos of QJ as well as 4 combos of AQ.
That's a total of 30 combinations.

He also has T8s: 2 combos; QT: 6 combos, KT (he raises the flop sometimes so i discounted it) 3 combos; K8s: 2 combos; K7s: 2 combos; 77: 1 combo (discounted); TT 1 combo (discounted); Q8s: 2 combos; maybe 1 or 2 combos of J9s; some combos of AJ, lets say 4.
So a total of 25 combinations.

It's already a thin bet and we discounted a lot of his valuecombinations and assumed he'd call most of his Qx.
So i think the bet is a bit thin although i see the reason to bet against this range now that i counted all of his handcombos.
But there's still some possibility he even folds his Kx (or folded hands like K9s preflop), after all he's a nit - so i rather check and expect all worse hands to check back than valuetown myself ;).

wow what a great job. Im from Russian forum and coaches very rarely gives such a wide explanations ) (hope they dont watch this post lol )

I just dont get what u mean for "discounted". U mean sometimes there will be this hands and some time not? But u counted them all in calculations of combos.
Generally i agree with you and with a lil' exception: imo we can also discount T8s and QT by the preflop and flop.

GJ anyway.

Yeah discounted means i reduce the number of total combinations for the sake of the calculation because i think he will play the hands in a different way a certain amount of the time.

And i agree, you can discount T8s but i think he's always calling QT, having 2 broadway-cards always looks pretty, i don't think he folds these .
