I've recently moved up to NL100 SSS, and found that most players on NL100 (Stars), raise by between 2BB and 3BB, and almost nobody raises by 4BB. I played about 100k hands raising 4BB, and found that I got very little action, and when I did I was almost always dominated. I dropped my open raise amount to 3BB, and 2.5BB in LP, and i've found it works better, I get called a lot more by speculative hands.
Has anyone else made this switch? Do you think it's +EV?
I'm playing nl100/200, and i've been raising 3-3,5bb all the way through nl50, and it worked out perfectly. People on these limits really do respect a 4xbb raise. Also, by raising 2,5-3bb from late position, you make your steals cheaper, in case you get reraised.
Btw, did you make it to diamond by playing nl50 sss? that's pretty sick.
Yeah I think it's definately worth dropping it, just good to get it confirmed.
I made diamond a few months back 24-tabling NL50 SSS on Stars around 5-6 hours a day, then my son was born and I lost my diamond status for a bit, and only now managed to claw it back 24-tabling NL100 for a few hours a day. Just don't have as much time right now.
