Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

Play hand

$25/$50 No-Limit Hold'em (7 handed)

Known players:
[tg]BB$1930.00:///////;MP1$1275.00:///////;MP2$1855.00:///////;MP3$1145.00:///////;CO (Hero)$1790.00:///////;BU$4265.00:///////;SB$1240.00:///////;[/tg]

Preflop: Hero is CO with J:s, J:h.
MP1 folds, MP2 raises to $150.00, MP3 folds, Hero calls $150.00, BU folds, SB calls $125.00, BB folds.

Flop: ($500) 9:c, A:h, 4:h (3 players)
SB checks, MP2 checks, Hero bets $250.00, SB folds, MP2 raises to $1,705.00(All-In), Hero folds, MP2 gets uncalled bet back.

Final Pot: $750.

Cheking behind better?
Open-raiser seemd quite fishy.

I think with 7 players I 3bet this pre (~400, so we don't get that commited).
If he shoves.. well.. What kind of fish? Maniac? Passive?

I like the b/f (I bet ~300 I guess). But the best reason I found was bluff protection.
If he's a fish he is probably not folding QQ and KK.

I had similar hand today with 26 bb stack and I also called. I think raising would be bit too committing, c-bet would be then about half of our remaining stack.

I'd start pushing this with less than 20 bb.

And I'd check behind because there are not many hands we get value from, better hands will rarely fold and protection is not that important on that flop.

dont 3bet JJ pre after EP raiser, flat and stack on good boards in position.

as played check behind flop..... why are you bluffing with JJ on an A high board? what is calling you that you beat? what is folding that beats you? nothing and nothing.

3betting withouth a plan on what to do seems pretty wrong to me. I'd only 3bet if would plan calling a shove cuz I think villains spews...

As played just check flop. You're in position and when it goes bet / call on the turn you can just fold and when there's a single bet you can call and evaluate the river.

Ok. Sorry to bring this back on, but I think this may be a spot where my EV is leaking...
I think I don't flat enouth IP.

I think the "no 3bet" is because he folds worse and pushes better/flips, right?

A few question about your comments:

I'd only 3bet if would plan calling a shove

You guys never 3bet fold?
If you do, with what kind of hand? Only OOP?

dont 3bet JJ pre after EP raiser

Do you flat QQ+?
3bet QQ+ (or KK+) is quite readable, isn't it?

Thank you for your patience :f_grin:

I do 3bet / fold sometimes, but only on rare occasions. If I do so, I mostly do it as a bluff with anytype of crappy hand against regulars. Your hand does not matter then cuz you won't show it anyways. So usually you don't want to 3bet / fold in SNGs, which means that you only 3bet for value as a default. If you cannot 3bet for value (which usually implies stacking off preflop), think about calling. In this case 3betting for value against an utg would be too thin that's why we call to keep worse hands in.

I'd 3bet QQ+ for value almost every time and even though that would be readable, I don't care. People would have to play dozens of games with to figure that out. If they do however, I already know them and I will change my strategies accordingly.

Calling does happen on these limits.
However, not if you only 3bet regulars.

Thanks guys. :f_biggrin:
