Hi all, i hope its OK to post PLO8 hand here, because its no specific forum for it. I just play a hamd which i am really stunned of. I am new to this game, so can someone tell me if my play was good or bad and why?

Outcome: Hero won $39.12

Thats preflop fold .
And flop to, since you have only the 3rd nut lo draw (A3,A5) and with the draw you fighting only for 1/2 of the pot.

Vanek ist right. This is an easy fold preflop. Du barely cant make the high hand and sure enough no good low hand.

3456 is one of those hands that looks sexy but is in fact terrible.
Let's break the hand down into high and low potential.

The best low we have is 34. This is beaten by A2, A3, A3, 23 and 24
So we have the 6th best low draw. This means we must hit an ace and a deuce on the flop to really be able to progress with the hand. As you can guess, this happens a small percentage of the time. As an aside on the times it does happen we might find someone else holding AJ34 which is bad for 3456 on a A28 flop, we are getting quartered.

For our high hand we are never going to have the nuts (and get paid off!). The only board where we have nut high and nut low is A23xx with no flush or board pair. No-one will pay us off here so we win a small pot. On a board of 234 we have nut high but anyone with A5 or A6 wins low, even worse is if our opponent has A56 we again win a quarter of the pot.

Any other time we hit a straight it wont be the nuts. So on a board of 678 we have a poor high straight and a poor low hand. We can end up sandwiched between 2 players, one holding A2 and the other holding 9T.

This is why we fold preflop, because we win a small pot when we're ahead and we lose a big pot when behind.
