Firstly, sorry, it is NL 25 hand, but it is common situation at nl100 as well. I read a lot this forum and Bierbaers analysis are very valuable, so i posted it here.

Villain is total fish, 55/18, af 2. Against regural i c/f this, but it is so hard to put fish on a range so i cant calculate mathematicly this situation. It happens so often that i 3bet pf against shortstack fish and do not hit my ak and just c/f. Against fish i want 3 bet as large amount as possible, but when he is so shortstack i have to 3bet smaller cause when he has something and i hit, money goes in anyway? Pf shove is option as well i think. Anyway i dont know how to handle this kind of situations. Sorry for my bad English.

Hi,

there are two options against that kind of player, because you don't need to balance.

1.) Either push preflop. You get called be worser hands for sure.
2.) 3-Bet normal and push nearly any flop. Especially that one, because you sometimes still have the best hand, and if not you have 6 relatively clean outs + A bit FEQ (not so much against a fish like him ;-) ) => +EV

Best regards,
Anin

Hi nurmalna,

welcome to the NL BSS Gold forums!
It's ok to post a hand from a lower limit in this forum once in a while, but please keep it to an appropriate volume, after all the forums are split for a reason ;-).

As for the hand:

You shouldn't. By check/folding he will take away the pot from you oftentimes when you either have the best hand or would get a better hand like a small pocket pair (which called for setvalue and folds to further action) to fold.
If he calls with a small pocket pair you still have over 25% equity in the pot so it's not a disaster.

I wouldn't just shove it in preflop, imo the EV of 3betting to a normal size is higher (although shoving it in directly also has +EV most likely).
When you have a potsized bet left you don't even have to put him on a specific range:
Math tells you, that he will only hit the board 1/3 of the time basically regardless of his range (as long as he has a balanced range of unpaired hands and pairs - since fish simply call a lot they will have that).

When you shove it in with a potsized bet left even in the case of having 0% potequity you'd only need to have 50% foldequity to have a +EV shove.
Since he has to fold over 60% of the time the shove on the flop shows an immediate profit.
If he calls more than 40% of the time it's even better, because the additional hands he calls are usually an underdog to your A high (except if he has a monsterdraw like FD+gutshot in which case you only have 40% equity - but it's still +EV to shove because you only need 33% potequity in case he calls).
