Bonjour TimPS,
Pourquoi "s'il vous plait" et non pas "merci" ?
Hi Tim
Despite my very limited dutch, I wanted first to thank you about the very active topic regarding the belgium law that you have on the dutch page of pokertsrategy. Always a pleasure to have a look there to keep me informed.
Of course, the most important question has been already mentionned: the status of regular players regarding the taxes. How to define that? To my opinion, it seems impossible at this stage and even the worst lawyer in the world will manage to go around an eventual law.
Second point: it is mandatory for the room to establish a partnership with a "real" casino to get a licence. What does that partnership include that might be interesting for the players (special event, tournament ish?)
And last point: Despite the french regulation (ARJEL) that was supposed to protect the players and especially their bankroll, they have been so far completely useless regarding the full tilt problem.
What is planned in Belgium if something similar happens to .be room?
Groetjes
Hey francio59,
Thanks alot for your kind words, it is very much appreciated. When you would notice something that you would like me to translate for you, you may always ask me so. I will answer your questions tonight, but even in the future, don't be worried about posting in English/French on our Dutch pages. I'm doing the same here, so don't let it bother you. We're one community and everyone's always welcome. ![]()
About the tax rules, as I noticed quite a few questions about that already, I will write a quick reply about it in here already.
So I'm going to quote my preperation for that question in here already:
I talked to Stefaan Huysentruyt, partner of Carl Devlies, and also contacted our tax department yesterday. It is true that regular players will have to pay taxes, no matter what their income is, and occasional players will not have to pay taxes.
When I asked for criteria (what makes someone a regular? What makes someone an occasional player?) they told me it would be the tax department deciding that. It would be left to their judgment and there are no real criteria. If they classify you as a regular, you can always object to it in court.
No matter how strange this system might sound, it is actually the same one as the German tax system on poker. If you’re a regular and lose money, you don’t have to pay taxes. If you’re an occasional player and you win the Sunday million, you don’t have to pay taxes either. If you’re classified as a regular, however, and you even make the slightest profit, you would have to pay taxes.
I will keep you updated on this though, they told me there were no criteria, but I find that hard to believe, so I will keep pushing for answers here.
To the rest of your questions I will gladly reply tonight, en direct!

Bonjour Bruno,
