Ohhhhhh men it's no sense discuss. Ofc sites always will take a rake because there are not charity.

This is called advertisement/acquisition.

They hope that they players they attracted during this period and who deposited to play for the rake free tournaments will stay on the website, so in the end PartyPoker would have more trafic :).

It was more a question directed at whether or not they had, in fact, run that promotion.

Ah . Yeah they had it for the entire January :) Huge +EV since it just adds about 10% ROI to your normal winrate by saving the 10% rake :)

Same as removing a 10bb/100 rake on cashgames would just increase your winrate by 10bb/100 as a winning player.
