I hit nothing on the flop. I bet to make him fold but he calls me. I check after this as I still have trash and did not want to bet away more money. Was my play wrong or right?? Thanks

I would contibet again on the turn. If he raises it's close between calling for overcard outs or folding. I'd tend to fold since c/c flop and c/r turn would look strong.

Then I would check behind the turn in he checked again.

ok thanks a lot. i just thought i bet once on the flop even though i hit nothing just to hope he fold.. he didnt so i thought he must already have a pair at least and i had nothing so i didnt want to bet again

You usually will get called in the Flop since it's so cheap.. In fact it's almost a standard move.. usually you get pot odds, or there aren't enough opponents etc etc... but betting on the turn indicates you actually have something and considering you raised and the Queen it's on the board..well.. he's going to think it twice..

If he has the Q he's surely going to raise you.

Besides in the river you have position, so if he continues he'll remember your raise and the Q on the board, and he'll probably check.
