You are going for Check/Call on such a board? That's the worst line you could pick. ♦ Into so many opponents just donk yourself and protect or either way Check/Raise big time.

As played if you planning to continue there then it should be pretty much Check/Shove. But do we many hands here? He ain't even scared of the 8 on turn which makes me doubt that he is doing that with 2pairs. So I might the crying fold as I played it that passively.

A couple of days ago I had a similar experience with a set of kings, and bet out on it, but unfortunately, I suspect, not hard enough on the flop...

Embarrassing. I post the result in this case because it is to show the effect it had on me later.

This time, when the sixes came up with a straight draw it immediately took me back to this hand.

I now suspect that I should also have bet this KK hand much more aggressively on the flop, to discourage drawing out his OESD.
and even before this hand I should have protected my bankroll by leaving the table once it had climbed to about $4 ( I came with $2 as per usual and had some success until this point).

But when the set of sixes came up I probably overreacted too scared, because I was thinking back to this one.

Yep, that's the 1st step you should have done with 250BB, leaving the table. If you even don't have that huge BR.

About the play it's really up to the opponent. We really have to hope that he is able to play 2pairs like this. But now again we are 250BB deep, is he really?
