OTF I c-bet and V calls, turn is a good card for my range so I size up because it will put pressure on his weaker pairs. He calls, OTR an ace comes and I am ahead of all 1 paired hands, should I bet smaller? I was pretty sure OTR I was beat but I was getting good odds to call, the pot was 2.10 and 40c to call, I needed to be good like never and basically leveled myself into calling even though he check raised river with is very under-bluffed. I think calling river was mistake probably because even though we are getting nearly 5.5 to 1 I guess we are good here like never lol I thought it might be spew once in a while but I feel I was trying to talk myself into a call given the price. bad play I believe. Thoughts on the hand?

I hate these.
The river card is what you've been waiting for, but it fits opponents hand better than it fits yours.

So tempting to bet for "thin value" -- but this is a case where check back might be wiser since better aces are a large part of opponent's range.
Certainly bet/fold is also playable.

I would most likely check the turn behind and if villian is a fish I would most likely check the flop already. it will be tough to get a better hand to fold on both streets. especially on the turn. River is as played a check behind i think. You have some showdown value and I don't expect you get better to fold or get much value. Ax isn't to likely in villians range or it is a 2 pair combo.

How about fold preflop?
