5NL Ignition, 9 players

SB- $14.38
BB (Hero)- $4.95
UTG- $3.11
UTG+1- $12.58
UTG+2- $2.37
LJ- $4.98
HJ- $4.83
CO- $2.13
BTN-$4.66

The SB has almost played every hand for the last few orbits and is somewhat of a maniac making really light calls and capable of air ball bluffs. Definitely the action at the table but is capable of putting you in tough spots.

Preflop:
Folds around to HJ who raises to 0.17, Co & BTN fold, SB calls and I call in the BB with K♦:9♦:.

Flop: ($0.51) 3 players
4♥:K♣:8♠:
SB donks for 0.2, I raise to 0.6, HJ folds and the SB calls.

Turn: ($1.71) 2 players
T♦:
SB donks again for 0.25, Hero raises to 0.8, SB calls.

River: ($3.31)
A♠:
SB puts me all in for my last 3.43, I fold.

Opponent showed 4♦:5♦:, I feel like the A♠: is a really bad river card, completes a lot of two pairs, please let me know what you all would do in this situation.
Also what are your thoughts on the turn raise, should this just be a call IP.

I would just call him down. No need to change your hand in to a bluff and this way you keep the pot smaller. As played you need to fold the river for sure.

SDK, I really respect your sizable amount of posts and advice, I am just not sure we def want to fold River. Our call only needs to be good slightly over 1/3rd of the time, getting almost 2-1. And as we know the villain is loosey-goosy... I'm quite strongly leaning towards that I've made enough profitable calls against players like these in similar spots. The A IS quite bad... but also a good scare card... it only completes the QJ draw.

Isn't calling down from the turn a bit weak? He min-bets and will most often have some sort of worse pair and/or a draw. calling him down seems to maximize his equity. Mostly we want to treat these types of bets as checks and make our move and sizing accordingly I suppose.

More info on the villain would be nice... does he bet bigger when he has something? or does he also min-donk-bet when he has a strong hand.

In any case, I think we want to make our turn bet bigger here. If I see it correctly, we are giving draw hands ridiculously good odds, effectively making it 0.55c to call for a $2,75 pot, giving 5 to 1. Instead we might want to make it closer to pot, or perhaps an overbet shove would be good here, because he might call lightly, thhinking you're bluffing, while actually making a value-over-bet.

In any case want to make him pay as much as possible for calling lightly. Arguably a raise closer to 3/4 pot or pot will also discourage him some of the time from going all in OTR, and sometimes also result in a fold from villain OTT.

Yep, just call the flop donk.
Turn bet is not even a bet, so I'm always tempted to raise as well, pretending he has checked to you.
River just fold to the shove. It is basically impossible to assign a range to his donking line, it could be a bluff, but it is definitely not worth a call.

I wouldn't raise OTF. Villain's donk could be strong but most often I would say it is not. But even then the board is quite dry and our hand doesn't need protection, and HJ that originally raised pre and has an uncapped range is still behind us. Sure villain can open a lot of hands pre and could be capable to make wild bluffs but it doesn't yet mean that he will call flop raises with bottom pairs too. Now he did that but we probably didn't know that beforehand?

He's donk leading twice and he called 2 times a raise and shoves the river. I can't really think a hand he would do that what K9s beats, but this time the villain makes a realy weird play with worse, but if we don't have a read on the villain he makes this kind of maniac moves a call on the river isn't profitable I think.

I think i would reraise OTF and play more carefully the next streets (Im assuming he donks and is angro often)
Th A and the raise size kinda kills the action for us :/
Yeah, these guys can be frustrating sometimes

I think against an unknown Aggro Donk you really don't want to be bloating the pot as your hand plays really well as a bluff catcher, once he has called your flop raise ideally just call turn and river. Remember to note what he keeps showing up with in these spots....

I prefer flop just call the SB donkbet and turn call too and river if villain does not cbet more and half pot call to.

What do you think which are the hands when we should raise the SB donkbet?

If it was heads up pot with SB, I think flop in the position just call is fine K8s and any sets. I can only one hand when i maybe raise after SB donkbet, KQos. But HJ have position i think i raise K8s and any sets.

Alright, I'm taking your points about not bloating the pot, playing the hand as a bluff-catcher: meaning just calling flop (also cause of uncapped range behind us) and calling down in most cases. So, that def seems like a safe way to play the hand.

about villain: OP said we did know that he ''has almost played every hand for the last few orbits and is somewhat of a maniac making really light calls and capable of air ball bluffs.''

I think I know this type of player on the micro's, The difference with this maniac and maniacs on higher limits might be that this one has no concept of ranges and with what parts of them he can try justifying making certain plays, he just randomly goes for it when he feels like it.

with that in mind I also like the flop raise to isolate the fish. Also the Turn and river cards are fairly unlikely to have improved any semi-bluffing hands... and this type of player might be likely to re-raise with made hands on earlier streets. I think he might be more likely to think on the level of wanting to get the money in than to disguise his hand by trapping because that's how he plays his bluffs. He's more an in the moment kind of player; calling lightly, air ball bluffs, donk mini.. bets... It's reading into it but....

I think the question here is: HOW MUCH OF A MANIAC IS SB? (and how do we adjust his range for it)..

If my intuition is right, he's going to have a top pair weak kicker or worse here more than 1/3s and might continue to bluff river. def ready to admit that's a lot to make assumptions on, and that it's close... we can add though that it can turn out to be very profitable to find out... I would opt to gamble this one up.
