Hi all,

This is my first time posting on a forum so I hope I convey this informatively for plenty of analysis and feedback. Here goes. I have been playing poker for approx. 5 years and have read quite a few books. I also watch a lot of pro playing hands on you Tube. I am however what you call a fish and am certainly not a consistently winning player. I have plenty of enthusiasm however and am willing to learn.

I tried 30NL and would welcome feedback on the hand that I post below. I realise that this is way above my normal level but just gave it a go. Firstly some background to the hand that I wish to post. - I lost half my fist buy in on a pre flop raising war with junk and after rebuying lost my whole stack on an elaborate bluff! I shoved the river to get called with a flopped set! I since however doubled up after rivering a full house v Aces.

I think it's fair to say I had the reputation of a maniac and the player to my left was playing back a fair amount and was reluctant to get run over. I however was letting my ego get the better of me and was keen to boss the table (this is despite my acknowledging that I am a fish). I do think the player to my left would raise a wide range of hands to my raise and call an equally wide range making his range very wide pre-flop. The initial raiser in the hand below was in my opinion raising his strong hands 3x and his weaker range 2x - hence my raise on the button. That's a background to the hand - (perhaps a feeble attempt to excuse my bad play) I welcome your views (no matter how derogatory - please pile on the feedback) to the following (We are both have over 180BBS)):

UTG Fold
UTG1 raise to 2BB
MP Fold
Hero (BTN) 6c3s raises to 7BB
Villans (SB) calls
BB Folds
UTG1 Folds

Pot - 17BBs

Flop - 7sJh6d

SB Checks
Hero Bets 12 - 13BBs
SB Calls

Pot - 42.5BBs
Turn 8h

SB Check
Hero Check

Pot - (42.5BBs)
River Jc
Villan Bets Pot (over 42.5BBs)
Hero ?????

Your feedback please

Yours

If you are going to play this style you need to have better hands than 6-3 because you are essentially going to be playing big pots with one pair hands. At least if you have big cards you are more likely to have top pair hands and can extract value or bluff catch opponent. Fold as played.

Thanks for your reply BuenosAires87,

Valuble advice indeed - however I have no intention of continuing to play like this (LOL). I did think it was an intersting hand given the dynamics of the table. I did actually make the call based on three things 1) His value bet range is very thin 10 9 or a J - and I don't think he's value betting two pair here - and 2) some missed draws that increased his bluffing range 3) size of the bet was too large for value - felt 'bluffy' - he showed 53h and I dragged in the pot (not that I'm boasting or anything LOL).

Thanks agin for the feedback though - keep it coming

1. The 3b with this hand is not ok.
2. River is a fold.
3. If someone plays back at you, then you should slow down.

this hand is doubled....

Sorry Nitrol - it is indeed doubled - I've not posted before and I hadn'd realised what would happen if I edited some mistakes - apologies for confusion. I appreciate your views though. :f_drink:
