touche sir :) officially keeping this thread in my favorites and i changed my mind....mods please keep this thread open because it fulfills my need to see other people who don't want to do any of the work in this game failing HARD. I prefer the ones who actually care about their work they put into the game do well.

And just for the record, I am talking about you martiangoblin. You fail. HARD. you're just such a great example of what happens to people when they teach themselves how to live life and how to play poker. A little primitive if you ask me and certainly barbaric the way you go on about others who initially just want to help you, and then turn into your enemy because you keep biting the hand that feeds you. What a joke.

I think no one should ever have such great expectations of oneself. Poker is a game, a hobby. In poker your goal is to make money right?

But, you see the fabricated, televised and the lucky likes of professional gamblers, making great deals of money everywhere. They have dedicated their self to the game and the position their in is like winning a lottery to the average recreational player.

However, something does click and you start to realize that Poker is a hard way to make an easy living. Downswings, losses and bad beats all effect you but primarily you want to make a PROFIT. Any profit in poker is good, weather it be $1 or $100, you need to keep chipping away getting better and better and making money.

The day you think you have poker figured out is the day you make no more money. Poker is an ever long learning experience and the guys you see on TV have dedicated their self to the game.

Don't expect to be a big time winner and win the lottery like Chris Moneymaker, who by the way didn't win it all by luck, he did play intense online tournaments as you will see via the new film 'All In' but it is a great story to the average man.

Remember just build a bankroll, play on the side as a hobby and one day, when you have grind your self up, something will clique and you will enter a tournament, perhaps in WSOP, perhaps a PCA, perhaps a EPT and you will cash, perhaps.

It takes millions of hands, millions of hours of study to even get to a place of confidence in poker, just keep at it.

Hope this gibberish made a little sense

are you speculating or speaking from personal experience edturmoil?

most of what you said i agree with 100% though :) very inspirational

Has noone understood that he's trolling yet? really??

I am a joke. I am a failure. And of course im trolling. This thread is the only attention i get. Even if i wanted to i couldnt try poker again because i have no money.

I am not at all surprised that you are happy to see me fail. And you're right, i do snap back at people who try to help me, and i burn all my bridges in the process. Your post only cements my belief that i deserve to be miserable.

Maybe i'm just a piece of shit

no, you are just seriously disturbed and possibly a bit anti-social, but i would go see a doctor to get an exact diagnosis.

you get out of it what you put into it. only you can answer how much you put in this just the same as only i can answer that question if it was directed at me.

there are many freerolls on poker770.com, party poker, pokerstars. its a lottery ticket, but its free and it keeps you doing something you might enjoy from time to time. work up a few cents here and there and just never give up.

I would be willing to forgive your past indecencies if you showed that you're getting ongoing and perpetual help from a doctor/phsychologist. then and only then would i even consider becomeing your friend.

and remember this: to get friends, you first have to be a friend.

Regardless if OP is trolling or not, alot of solid advice has been given in this thread and I'm sure alot of people have been able to take away something from it :) It's nice to see there's great people in our community trying to lend a helping hand!

Oh wait... is that really the purpose of a good troll?
