goal setting for a lazy poker pro

Hi all,

for those of you that don't know me I play purely headsup poker currently at limits nl100-200 under a stake coaching deal and have been doing so since feb of last year.

Although this is my only source of income its been clear over the last 11 months i havnt put the time and effort in that i really should. (what usually happens is i play 10-15k hands a month make an ok amount and instead of saving anything to build a bankroll of my own or improve equipment, i squander it all on partying..)

I tried several times to set volume goals, points goals etc. over the entire month but they've always ended in failure, so last week i decided to set one of a very shortterm nature of a lockdown that could last anywhere between 1-4 days Lockdown

this actually went pretty well and i managed 2 full days.. this got me thinking, what should i try to achieve next which actually has a reasonable chance of being completed.

So my new goal is to play 1.5k+ hands a day for the next 7 days.
this is approximately 5-6 hours of play per day 1-2 tabling.

Each day will be accompanied with graphs, general mood and some days may include abit of strategy or funny hands..

Getting nitregs to stack off with "just" top pair is hard but not impossible double c/r works like a charm

unfortunately my cat (sooty) died today, and therefore i wasnt in the mood to grind till much later in the day and only got 5/600 hands in.

ill count this day and tomorrow as day 4, as i think its totally acceptable to not hit my daily goals when something unexpected like this happens..

this hand was pretty sick, the 3better was a massive nit and the limper was a massive fish i thought about 4bet shoving then decided im crushed jus too often.

Both the regs tanked for a very long time which makes me think i probably had the 3rd best hand here :)

Villan is a super aggro reg but folds alot to 3bets oop.
On this flop i decided to delayed cbet or give up if bet into as he will c/r flops like these wide and i have v little equity.

turn and river bets std to bet on the scare cards when he raises i only needed 40/45% folds to make a shove profitable.

Seeing as i wouldnt have been too suprised if his entire bluff range is more than that let alone the small ax 2pair type hands he may hero fold it looked like a nice spot to STICK IT IN HIS EYE

Nice to get an insight into the daily grind of a Pro poker player. Can't wait to try and understand the intricacies of your advanced level of strategy. I am just starting out on my fifth stab at learning properly!. I am also lazy and need to set goals myself. I know I am capable but get bored easy and like you, like to party!

Goodluck sir!

if your lazy like i am it's going to be best to set short term attainable goals in order to improve

Example. watch three videos on what your learning taking notes

Committing for a whole month i found just too hard, but gradually increasing then maybe 1 day whole month goals will be easy for me _biggrin:

Hi James! My perception was always that you played way more than that, however I wish you good luck with the challenge! I know you're a good player and beat the games by quite a margin, putting the volume in should pretty much guarantee you a nice monthly winning :).

GL!
