Hi,

i have a big problem, i just cant beat zoom

The story:

After a "great upgrade" from pokerstars where you can play only 4 regular tables i thought ok i take 4 regular plus 2 zoom tables. Regular tables are 9max and zoom 6max. The results of regular tables are even better than expected but the zoom results are very horrible, even a little embarrassing is to post them here 8-)

Graphic

Results

it's a mystique for me that can't beat anything in zoom, not even 1 BB / 100. I don't know how good the indicator of this poker tracker Leaktracker is but according to it the indicators are good.
The results of the regular tables should show that I should understand this game above average
Maybe 6max is so different from a 9max game?? or maybe you have some good idea why i can't beat zoom :)

And finally maybe you can recommend some good zoom strategy links or 6max which you have tried yourself and works fine

Omg, you are so good.

Jonathan Little said "Find the games that you beat and play loads of them" "It doesn't mean it's there you have to play them"

Hi 8sprint4,
Zoom is different, and 6-Max is vastly different than full ring.
I think you found that out.

I don't know about you but over 4 tables the quality of my play goes down -- and therefore my winrate.
I miss juicy spots at one table while playing a couple of others.
Maybe switch to 2 & 2 -- but then your overall volume goes down.

You don't say what sites you play on.
Have you tried the zoom with antes on PokerStars?

Best of luck :gl:,

I play at pokerstars and I haven't tried antes tables yet but I'm definitely planning to

I think 4&2 tables is like playing 10 fullring tables,
maybe should change to 4 & 1 or take a few more fullring tables from another poker room.

Same here, however not a large sample size. (These are all the hands I have played ever since I started over after a 10+ year break)

I think I will stick to regular tables for now.

You can run always bad in that sample, make sure you don't call too much, 3 bet or fold except the BB. Watch a few good streaming zoom players. But mostly just focus on playing on 2 tables and make every right move :)

One day I move up, I swear!

I am a fish in zoom either (actually I guess in every game still heh) but yeah this sounds quite inspiring. Practice, copycat, just follow what works and eventually you'll become successful. However, in poker, it's slighty harder than anywhere else

Hi Olifatas,
In zoom I play tighter.
I may win less, but I sure lose less.

You just say "don't play it" to keep the good players out of the pool

I cannot really understand how is possible to crush normal tables and get rekt at fast-fold ones for such simple!:wtf:
Unless you are super nitty and Yall know that and simply don't pay you off unless they are nutty and rekt you! This is the only logic I can find.

Yup, villains fold at the first sign of aggression, and jam the nuts.
They know that they can get paid off often enough

They also tend to trap with sets.

Notes are essential.

As a mainly fast poker player, zoom is just harder... Main reason is that you can't table select, you will always have huge bb/100 difference if in regular tables you doing ok table selection... Second reason is that you have less reads. On a regular table you can read someone on tilt who open shove any two while on zoom you won't know it and fold big EV+ spots. I'm not on stars anymore but when i was playing there zoom was very reg infested too. One of the worst format on a room to grind, unless you're trying to achieve a promotion or a bonus

zoom is definitely tougher for sure, the fish to reg ratio is worse than the usual 1:5, and zoom fishes also make fewer preflop leaks by default (because of the fast fold option).

I'm going to assume you are a young guy in your early 20s based on your join-date. as an old man in the space (i define it as >30 years old), just use zoom to practise, go find yourself some juicy live games. Don't make the same mistakes I did, trying to make a living from online poker.

You can easily 3-4x your winrate aiming to play 10/20 USD or higher in a live setting rather than grinding it out. Of course it's comfortable playing at home but i would like to think that most people are in poker for the short-term only.

If you wanna play online, go play some other smaller apps. Play regular games, don't chase stupid VIP rakeback deals. Don't play Zoom formats if you are playing for money. Zoom is really fun and comfortable to play but is by far the worst format for profit.

Stay away from zoom as its hard to beat. This is becasue you will face weaker players much less often. The zoom pools are full of regs usually
