All the advice in this thread is really good.

One thing I've identified recently which has really helped me is "externalising" rather than "internalising" i.e. focus on what other people are doing not what you're doing.

An example, you lose a big pot when villain calls your two pot sized bets on the flop and turn and hits his gutshot on the river. Instead of thinking "that f*****g sucks, I just lost a buy in". Think "ok, he's going to draw without proper odds. He's limp calling 89o." Make a note and move on.

You will only tilt if you internalise something bad.

Hopefully that helps prevent tilt a bit. If the red eyed monster hits in a big way, quitting is still by far the best thing to do.

I know, many of you will laugh hysterically after ready my post but I can guarantee to you that this method works so far for me!

Im in a terrific downswing that in 7 months has drag me from NL25 on Microgaming in Italy to the NL2-5 again.

There is no need to post proof of incredible bust as by now many members should recognize me as a "non-ballshit" person, so ...

As a consequence of this heavy situation I have been forced to several stops during the above mentioned period (the longest one June where I haven't played a single hands as the lost of the status here on PS may prove) because Im as a personality already "very-steaming"

in conclusion, to not take too long, to be able to back to "work" and play the love of my life that's poker, I have decided to buy a punch-bag (go out when Im under the effect of the steam may cause to end in the Crow-Court that means likely jail )

Now is the 13 July and Im playing by now every day and the system I have create works very well, today one more full-house over full-house and 5 minutes of strong boxes and back to work!

Try yourself maybe may helps you as well! ;)

last night 1.5K GTD @ everest -> final table->I preflop raise (KK), flop 5910 villain bets 3/4 pot I go all in he snapcalls shows A9-> turn 9, river 9 i am like wtf but then after 10 mins talking to myself i have decided I have played the hand right and went to sleep.

Most important thing is to make sure u played it right! The more mistakes u make and the more u focus on "how can he call with dumb cards in the first place ..etc etc" the worse it is. Bad beats are inevitable, but if you are not playing your hand optimally or mis-judging oppoinens continously it is your fault, not the "rigged" poker room's :)

like ill play hundreds of hands good but after few srs bad beats i rage

sry for the bad english im horrible at it.

gut shot flush draw? wtf is that? do you mean he has a gut shot AND a flush draw? so 12 outs on the flop. roughly 48% chance of winning (keep in mind he doesnt know you hit the straight already). maybe he is not playing as bad as you think.

but the advice on this thread is good. play enough hands and you will see the $ role in from aa v ak. it will get to the stage where you just shrug it off and you will just see that you got your money in good and although your BR when donw you made money that hand

The tilt problem is not as easy as just one hand many times though as was the case last night for me. Playing on MERGE as I am in the States for a few days and i get in a 9 man $1.10 game and

AhKd into shorty calling his As5s and wins 6 handed
then
AdQs into shorty 8s7h and he wins 5 handed
then
TdTs into shorty AhKc and he wins 5 handed
then
shorty finally has 4d3d and is forced to call his BB with 1.5 bb's and runs into AhQs and he 4 flushes.
I'm out next hand as the format on MERGE for a dazzler means that once you are 4 handed typically everyone is under 10 bb's and I had to call my
7s5s into the bigstack shoving on me and I lose.

The point is that bad variance is not just one hand as many of you already know but it is the culmination of many beats that builds on your psyche and helps tilt us.

Whatever way you find to release the frustration needs to occur as the pent up emotions will not serve you well in the long run.
