Are sitngo's +EV for you? If so, how do you change your general tournament strategy to adapt to them? I'm just a little above even (accounting for the fee) over 180 of them, and it seems like my style isn't optimal. Help!

I played a lot of SNGs last fall, and they were very +EV to me. SNG strategy really depends on its structure: How fast the blinds go up, how many players are involved, how many places are paid. In general I like to take the conservative approach, especially while multitabling: Playing very tight in the beginning, just like a cash game, and loosening up step by step, as the blinds grow, and stealing becomes more vital. As the blinds are really high, youve got to push every small edge, but tighten up a bit again on the bubbe.

I recommend reading both volumes of "Harrington on Holdem". Especially volume 2 offers a great deal of information and strategy for any aspiring SNG player.

This is a Link to a very good post on 2+2 about beating $10+1 SNGs. Although it refers to the old SNG structure on Party, it might give you some general ideas.

I'm reading HoH v1 right now, about halfway through. Blinds in most of these start at 1/50 of your stack and increase every 10 hands (Yeah, I hate Royal Vegas, but still, I got free money then got lucky and won a tour, and now I can't withdraw).

It sounds like you're describing Harrington's basic tournament strat, sped up to meet the sitngo standard. This is what I have been doing, but it seems that I get into trouble on the bubble, when the blinds are worth stealing. When I'm running bad and don't get hands (I mean, 8-3o and the like 10 hands in a row), the blinds whither me away, and then I finally hit a mediocre hand like ATs (but raisable with 4 players left on the button), and run into AK. Aren't you supposed to loosen up on the bubble? Isn't this a good time to steal pots and build your stack, when others fear busting out?

By saying I tighten up a bit on the bubble I didnt mean I stop stealing completely. Really depends on the size of my stack, the sizes of the other stacks and the blind level. You gotta steal enough to stay alive and grow your stack, but dont overdo it and bust out stealing with J2o. If I am shortstacked i will play a lot looser as if another guy was the shortstack. There I sometimes just wait till he busts out.
