You people who say I shouldnt get it in here are smoking crack. Its a 3o man tourney and we are on the bubble. I get it in here all day and night. Im also not making the point that I never get lucky (define luck). My point is when ever my tourmt is on the line I lose the 80% half the time.

A 30-man SnG you say?
On the bubble?
Go here:
http://www.holdemresources.net/hr/sngs/icmcalculator.html?action=calculate&bb=400&sb=200&ante=0&structure=0.30%2C0.25%2C0.20%2C0.15%2C0.10&s1=4525&s2=5835&s3=3145&s4=7747&s5=16120&s6=7627&s7=&s8=&s9=

You will see that SB can shove any two cards profitably here.
Why? Because in your situation, you should be folding anything except JJ+

Oh, so he waited to shove on you on the flop?
No difference, except now you lost the extra BB.

You must not call here, since although you are a 2:1 favourite in this particular situation, you have far better odds if you wait until someone else panics, and then you are at least ITM.

Read Pzhon's article (nope, its a video) on folding wars. You were in one.
You pissed away 3rd place by getting frisky when all you had to do was: nothing in order to burst the bubble.

Have you ever played "chicken" for real? With real cars?
The trick in surviving a game of chicken is knowing when to flinch.
You did not flinch when you should have and you had a head-on collision.

Damn, I just broke my metaphor.

I'm glad you posted this, though, because I learned a lot myself.

Good luck at the tables.

PS -- I've never done crack, and its been 30 yrs since the last time I did acid. 30 yrs this month in fact. Wow.

Nah i think its definitly a call. Also the overshove looks suspicious and maybe at best a flush draw. Doubling up will do more for you than folding into the money as these are usually top heavy with payouts.

btw acid is a beautiful drug

The only problem with drugs is that the source of supply is in the hands of criminals.
The reason I quit is that I was given a dose prepared by a pharmacy grad student. From that I learned that all the stuff I had been doing was complete garbage.

Back on topic, when playing double-or-nothings, I made a pretty good ROI from people who did not understand that you can sometimes fold your way to victory.

That having been said, I'm just about to call an all-in 3-way well ahead of the bubble.
Mind you I have AA

And I tripled up.

It's a dangerous flop, do you really wish to risk your whole tourny life with a flush draw board ? & possible straight draw ?

The answer is NO.

Forget the hindsight you now have, I.E after the 3 streets were revealed.

Rewind to the flop in the moment, you should of asked yourself ( even with notes on that player ) do i wish to risk my whole tourny life here ! or just wait for a better spot & board.

Folding, is just as much a part of poker as is calling, betting & raising.

A min raise ? caution alarm bells, then a HUGE over bet.

I wish you all the best of SKILL & luck on the virtual felt.

Sorry but this answer is bullshit. Of course we want to risk our whole tournament life getting it in vs draws that aren't favourite against us. Are you saying we only want to get it in with 100% equity, because that doesn't happen very often. Your logic is the same as saying we shouldn't get it in with AA preflop because "Do we really want to risk our tournament life with only 80% equity?".

That being said, get used to it OP, bad beats happen so just get over it.

@ Wriggers

dont be sorry for your opinion { could do without the offensive swear word thou }

What i was & i am saying is what i said, if you can not comprehend words in a context i suggest you study harder.

There is even more information available now, after extra posts.
They were on the bubble, so my thoughts make even more sense to fold, however we never had this information when i originally posted. None the less it's still a fold IMO.
MTT is about survival & then opening up after the bubble to go for gold.

Here you are looking at it from hindsight. You need to look at it from the view of being in that situation, I.E post flop holding those two cards & facing a AI with a flush draw & a straight draw against you.

Reading the board is imperative in this game.

Um... not on KQ2 board. Dunno about preflop, tl;dr, but not getting it in on this flop is silly.

Nh.

However, bad luck happens. Again and again and again. Ppl make mistakes and get rewarded for them, sometimes - even you, no doubt. (Have you ever got your money in bad and sucked out? I expect so.)

You have to learn to live with these bad beats if you want to play poker; it's just too miserable otherwise.

glk.

Yeah its quite funny how some people are saying fold. Folding in spots like these might reduce your variance or something but it doesnt maximise your ROI. I think at higher stakes its probably closer to a fold but at micros you just arent ever behind that often.

Dont quit poker over one hand though. Its good to have a rant and blow off some steam and I usually do it in a similar way. Just dont let it affect your game.

You also need to realise that playing sngs requires you to put in a tonne of volume. Thats the most important thing, VOLUME!!! When you're playing so much, things like these wont even affect you in the slightest. In fact you'll get to the stage where it will just make you laugh at how poor the other player is.

This all depends on your game plan, if you want to mincash a lot of tournaments fine, fold here. If you actually want to win or place high it's a stupid move to fold here whether we're on the bubble or not (Unless it was a DoN). When I have top 2 pair on this board I am getting it in every single time, I don't want to fold in such a profitable situation just because we might bust out before the bubble vs a draw that isn't favourite vs us. Winning this hand sets us up for a larger cash than folding our way to the money and then praying we win some flips when we're shortstacked.

I for one don't aim to mincash when I play MTTs, bad hourly doing that ;)

Oh and sorry for the swearword :)
