Didn't see any threads on people's attempts at getting the Poker Villian award in Sidekick, so I thought I'd start one!

For those of you oblivious, here are the rules to become The Greatest Poker Villian:

• Hole cards are 72o.
• Final pot is at least 200 big blinds
• Both hole cards are used for your final hand.
• The hand is dealt to at least 4 players.
• The hand must go to showdown.
• The game type is No Limit Hold'em.

Here are my attempts so far

iPoker - $0.04 NL - Holdem - 10 players

Flop: ($1.39, 3 players) 3♥ 6♠ 5♠
Hero checks, CO bets $1.96, Hero calls $1.46

Turn: ($4.31, 3 players) 9♥

River: ($4.31, 3 players) J♥

CO shows A♦ T♠ (High Card, Ace) (Pre 57%, Flop 57%, Turn 62%)
Hero mucks 2♣ 7♦ (High Card, Jack) (Pre 15%, Flop 18%, Turn 17%)
UTG shows 7♥ Q♦ (High Card, Queen) (Pre 28%, Flop 25%, Turn 21%)
CO wins $4.03

Couldn't help myself when I saw the gutshot! _cool:

And here is an actual win ! (No where near large enough pot though...)

iPoker - £0.04 NL - Holdem - 9 players

UTG+1: £5.60
MP: £4.70
MP+1: £4.86

Pre Flop: (£0.06) Hero has 2♦ 7♣

fold, fold, fold, fold, LP raises to £0.08, CO calls £0.08, Hero calls £0.08, fold, fold

Flop: (£0.30, 3 players) 6♣ 7♥ 6♥
LP checks, CO checks, Hero bets £0.15, fold, CO calls £0.15

Turn: (£0.60, 2 players) 4♠
CO checks, Hero bets £0.30, CO calls £0.30

River: (£1.20, 2 players) Q♣

Hero wins £1.12

Has anyone actually gotten this?

Post your attempts below!

John.

Do you need to win the pot too, in showdown?

Yes, the hand must go to showdown, and yes, you have to win !

Easy game. Go to NL2, and every time you have 72 you shove. Won't take long to suckout on someone. :)

Well, Yes.

Apart from that you don't get 72o very often... (my very n00b calc puts it at something like 6 every 1000, but I have to learn how to exclude 72s :P! )
[edit: okay, I stopped being so lazy, correct answer is 2*12/1326 = 18/1000?]

And you have to shove big stack and get called by bigstack (or by 2 mid stacks).

I was going to say that you'd have to play like a maniac to get called enough times, but actually, after a look at equilab,

you can play like a maniac, and get called by, 22+,A2+,KT+,QT+,JT,98s,87s,76s and you can suck out 30%.

Or, you play TAG, your all-in get called by JJ+,AJ+, and you suck out 25%

or at worst, QQ+,AK, for 21%, or at best 66+,A9+,KQ+,AT+ for 25%.

So, lets say you play tag, then you get 72o 6/1000 hands, then you shove all-in, then you get called by an 11% range, * 9 players, say, every time. Then you win 25% of the time...

So, you could do this after 1000/(6/4) = 666 hands...? for the cost of $6?

Seems an appriopiate number for the ultimate poker villian !

Would be interested in hearing some pro calcs!
[Edit: Yes, I didn't think of Vlamidimirs point, that you two cards have to be used, so I guess your probabilities plummet! I thought 666 sounded too small alright!]

Cheers,

John.

Did they just rake 40c from a $10 pot? ^^

Based on the HH, they raked $0.42 from a $10.02 pot.

It seems about right to me, considering most rooms have 1c/20c in the pot rake, and Stars state, for this limit as follows.

Stakes % Rake 2 Player Cap 3-4 Player Cap 5+ Player Cap
$0.02/$0.05 4.15% $0.50 $0.50 $1.00

So 10.02 * 0.0415 = 0.415830 (~42 cents)

Sounds right to me!

Can anyone think of the cheapest option?

I know Everest has some SNGs that are 5c total. Play those and open shove ever 72 you get?
