This happened in a live MTT tournament. Couldn't find any software to keep record of my live hands, if anyone knows any lemme know. So I have to tell it storylike, sorry about it.

it was a £300 freezeout. 2xx entrants. I did not have access to write it on the other forum.

10k starting chips, I had 28k.
Blinds were at 200-400

UTG+2 (26K chips) opened with 1200 bet
no callers
I'm at Cut-off, holding AsKd, raised to 3,500.
everyone else folded
UTG+2 snap called me
heads-up (pot is 7,600)

Flop : Ad 8d 5c

Villain (:P) checks the flop.
I bet 3,900
Villain called
Pot is 15,400

Turn : 4d

Villain checks
I usually slow down a bit, but since I'm drawing for the nuts as well
I bet 9,200
Villain called
Pot is 33,800

River : Kc

Villain stared at the river for 5 seconds then shoved all-in.
I did fold like a chicken.

Did I make any mistakes so far?
What would've been the right play on the river?

What I thought was he had a set, slow played the flop.
Got defensive on the turn and wanted to avoid the possible 4th diamond.

Cheers,
Shafa

You could flat pre to keep more of his Ax and Kx in but 3betting is fine - just I wouldn't always 3bet in this spot.

Please don't ever ever ever ever fold on the river, you get like just over 3:1 - wayy too good a price to ever consider folding.

On this flop your default line should just be bet/bet/bet and try to get it in. If you aren't comfortable that you are getting enough value from worse then I wouldn't 3bet pre so that you do keep much worse hands in that will stack off.

Thanks for the advice. I believe in the long run stats would be confirming your judgement about the fold on the river.

But what could he have to make that play? considering he wasn't a donkey.

P.S : I know what he had cause he showed me, I just like to know how better players think in this situation.

Cheers

I very rarely think he turns up with a set here.

I think if he has 'it' it's probably some kind of a flush. But with the diamond blocker, his line and the price I get I'm never folding.
