I would love to know your street-by-street thought process on that hand. I don't really understand your bet sizing on the Flop and Turn but I kind of wish I did.

So how would you play the flop and turn? :f_biggrin: I will explain once I know how you think.

Hey,

What do you do if Gideon call turn and river card completes flush or board pairs? Your turn bet doesn't look strong and it seems like you have drawing hand. Villain call doesn't look strong either and his range is similiar to yours.

Often i dont know if i should bet or not in spots like this. What is your plan here? Thanks :)

I would definitely be c-betting the flop, but I think I would tend to go slightly larger than pot. (Currently playing NL2-NL10 depending on what is available on iPoker.)

On the turn I would also make a slightly larger bet to set up the river in case we never get raised. When he does raise the turn I am re-raising here as well and shocked when the raiser is so weak. :)

By betting larger we are making hands fold that pay us off when we hit. We also make it extremely difficult for opponents to bluff us when we represent having hit the flop so well.

What do you bet when you miss the flop completely? Say you have KQJT in this spot. Would you also be betting bigger or would you just give up and check?

On the turn a lot of the time we have the pot locked up completely. We can't go fearing a backdoor flush draw and we should be keeping hands in the pot that typically have 4 outs here (such as a 2 pair hand). We may even get raised by someone with 2 pair or a total bluff since their logic is that we couldn't possibly have the nuts based on our bet sizing.

I am not shocked that villain would raise this turn card because he thinks he has the best hand. At no point does my bet sizing give away the fact that I had a super strong draw on the flop and the nuts on the turn. Given villain didn't raise the flop I rule out him holding a set or 2 pair, so when the 5 hits I don't think there are that many hands that pay me off in this spot. I am more focused on keep all his weak hands from folding (and winning money off them while they are drawing dead sometimes).

At my limits I can still bet smaller when I miss and no one is going to notice. Especially in a zoom pool. In this situation I would have to give up on the turn because so many draws hit and now we're naked and representing AAxx isn't even a good bluff line.

We had the same ideas on the turns, but your best sizing and reasoning is completely different. Precisely what I was curious about.

Do you feel that should be the standard line for lower limits as well? Does that include PLO25 and PLO10 and lower?

Most of the time I'm getting it in the hand mirrors what happened in that hand you posted so I think this situation is extremely common when you have good hand selection and really hit a flop. Furthermore I have a nice 2.5BI gap in my all-in equity and results right now and I was thinking my bet sizing was too small. :f_eek:

Now here is a legitimately interesting hand. How do you think I played, especially on the river? Does anyone else make the call?

I have no reads on my opponent, he is 48/12/0 after 33 hands

Hand number 1, did I horribly misplay this river 500 bets deep?

http://www.pokerhand.org/?6365890

Hand number 2, wheeeeeeeee

http://www.pokerhand.org/?6365893

Earlier today I did my live coaching session where I couldn't win a single pot at Zoom $25, but my reads were always correct. Sometimes I got it in bad deliberately just to show my reads, othertimes villain just sucked out. I think I lost $150. However I got all my luck back a couple of hours later at Zoom PLO $100

Hand 1 - I definitely think calling the river is a mistake. There's one combo of KK and two combos of AK and I doubt many people fold AK. It's also unlikely that someone re-raises the river with anything but KK so you're probably not going to make a mistake folding to a re-raise. Plus you let him make a dumb call with a worse boat / flush if he thinks you could be turning some marginal made hand into a bluff.

Hand 2 - Pretty weird/unusual line, but I like it! Nh.

My thoughts at the time naturally was that AK couldn't call my river jam because of a number of reasons.

1: Villain was solid and would realise that I am never bluffing in this spot given how deep we are.

2: Villain would probably not expect me to raise AK in this spot therefore my line is pretty much AA or KK and if he has AK he can likely find a fold.

3: Therefore by raising I isolate myself against KK where any worse hand than the AA I hold would fold to my raise.

However that said, if I had AK on this river in villain's spot I would have a super hard time folding to a full pot raise and might well make a crying call even though it should be obvious I am never good.

I wouldn't jam the river, a minraise or just over a minraise will be even more tempting and almost nobody would fold AK there.

do you think someone will fold the river as the hand was played? Ribbo played c/c so he could have J high flush as a bluff catcher so if he shoves or even raises he will get called by AK, my oppinion.
