I don't think so. If he's calling the flop with lots of GSSD type hands this 8 on the river gives him many 1 pair hands (and some straights too). Also, when your opponent is playing out of the big blind, often times their hand range has a lot of stuff other than A-high.

Its certainly possible that he would both call with an Ace preflop and then decide to play it this way postflop, but against his range for continuing against our river bet I would not expect these Ax combos to make up enough hands for us to profit from betting.

I like your river check and against a passive opponent I would often take the same line as you have here.

Against passive guy you played it perfectly well. Thousands of draws he could be calling with again and if he checkraises you have a pretty easy decision.

It's true what datsmanahme mentioned. Betting is much too close as he may have 7x, Pocketpairs and 8 just connects too well to K67. Too many straights and pairs possible you will bet into. Checkbehind River is fine!
