If you feel you want to gamble it all at once, at least spend it on a good weekend of poker. Don' flip it.

I'm unsure where you live, but you if you're from the UK you could use that $5000 to take part in several UKIPT's, you'd have a great time knowing you can freeroll and few of these as well as having an awesome hotel to stay at, or maybe join the Unibet Open, or the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour. This way you still have a chance to turn it into more, alot more than just a double up in fact, you'll also have a great time, thats for sure!

nice one

Seriously guys. Whats here to like. The guy is a degenerate scumbag gambler (emphasis on the fact that the money isn't his earnt), and one of the few highlights of his miserable existance is to make this kind of bragging thread, to let everybody know what kind of cool guy he is for considering making a $5000 flip. Of course you have to like these kind of guys because they make our income. But admire? Like their style?

I'd understand teenage girls to get wet over it but you guys? Sons, I'm dissapoint,

uuhm... sarcasm?!

there is seriously nothing wrong with this guy flipping it, aslong as he can find someone who will go 50/50 against him then he is golden, the only person risking stuff is him and the person who chooses to flip vs him, being angry and morally righteous about shit doesn't change that, its not as if he is destroying money, i bet his granddad would be well down for the gnarly flip.

if your mentality is flip for 5k because its money you didn't have before whats going to happen if you win? 10kFLIPPP!!!!??

Seriously, like someone said earlier if your interested in playing poker play some live tourneys and live like a baller for a weekend. Spread the wealth with some friends and at least have some good times for your 5k. But I got no balls so do whatever you want with yo moniez

why not just invest some of it into hiring a good poker coach, and use the rest of it for moving up liberally with coaches guidance.

You say you make 10k/year working part time. Add playing part time w some coaching and you could easily look for additional 10k+ yearly which you could spend on whatever the fuck you want. Like for example playing big live tourneys + traveling twice or more times a year if that's your thing.

Tho this is obv a troll thread so w/e

Much better.
My first thought on reading of your idea to just "flip it" was, "He must not have liked his grandfather very much".

The WSOP would be using the gift, not wasting it.

Good luck, mate

Haha, this isn't a troll. The painting was a draft of one of his still lifes painted in Villers-Bertonneux during WWII.

I don't want coaching because I don't want to dedicate my life to a card game. I am happy playing NL10 and have no motivation to move higher. Life spent exchanging money without positive contribution to society is one wasted IMO.

It's not rly dedicating life to it,given that you play poker anyway you might as well win decent money while doing it for fun

The one drop tournament donated $1mil to charity. David Einhorn donated all of his winnings ($4,325,000) from that event to charity.

There have been quite a few charity tournaments organized on pokerstars in the past. One of our private coaches even donates a part of his coaching profits to charity.

Besides, every person decides what they do with their own money... And if they make a lot of money, they can help way more than a person who works at a day job.

I do not see how flipping $5000 does anything good however... If society was really that important, you would have actually donated the $7k to some organization. It's easy to say things, but actions are the ones that count.

Firstly I think you have a mindset fallacy. The money is yours and is the same as the money you earned from your job. Just b/c you got it due to luck (somewhat) doesnt mean you should be wasteful.

BUT, if you really want to flip for 5K, I would suggest playing in a big live tourney to maximize the fun element.

You could ofc also take a couple month vacation and see a different contenant (excuse my spelling) with the money. This would be way more fun (imo) than a live tourney.

What's the point? Will you be happier with 10k in your pocket than with 5k ? Seems you got no idea how to spend your money. You said you don't mind losing 5k, but you didn't say what will winning mean to you. Is there something you wanna do or buy that requires 10k and you can't really wait till you earn another 5?
If you really don't know how to spend the money for right now, don't ask strangers, ask yourself. You're doing it for yourself and your happiness, living someone else dream won't make you happy.

The question you have to ask yourself is not how happy will you be if you win $10k but, how mad are you going to be if you lose the $5k?

Personally for me, the happy feeling of doubling my money is not even 10% of the hate i feel when i lose all my money...but everyone is different.
