I don't think that you are puting the effort needed in order to succed. You have to start following pokerstrategy's charts/articles, so as to undestard the aspects of the game. When there is no action behind you, you have to raise. DON'T LIMP ! Start by playing the top 12-16 hands (depending on your position) aggressivly on the right spot. You can't win if you are always passive.

Hi Solidius,

I will try your suggestion again. A week back I dedicated a table for this purpose to get my VPIP/PFR down to about 10% and below happened.

- waited for a long time then KK pops up :), played very aggressively and got beat by Ax guy at river. :(

- waited another long time and another KK pops up :) , flop is K9T I think, so play aggressively again, and you guess it villain lands a straight by the river

so based on this I shy away again, but nevertheless I will take your advice with more effort this time, read the articles and apply! Limp, passive, min-raise are also inputs from Veriz on my hand evaluations, so thanks too for the input.

my BR of $30 grows to $60 in 6weeks NL2, and drops to $0 in 6 days of NL4, FL and $1.5 hyper sngs.

I feel so tired...

ok so April will be more reading than playing month...

Read some BSS articles and got some idea why the guy down the street keep on raising (that was a big puzzle for me before! ?( ).

Basically, I think:

1. got better cards (QQ+) and your down the road? and in position? Raise!
(of course their are other reasons too, that I still need to figure out )
2. now realized that pre-flop can already be a game in itself.

Now on another topic, here is consumer item that got me thinking :

Which producer in the world would give their product that name!!! And,Who in their right mind would buy such a product???

Spoiler

COULD'NT RESIST!!!

Hi.. I just added you as a friend..

It seems from what I've read. you have some.. 'questionable' leaks that are sooo easy to fix.. and will generate you to get allot more out of poker.. and wouldnt mind setting aside some time to go through them with you if you wish?

Otherwise, good luck at tables.

April Recap:

April was dedicated to gathering SP points to get $20 SP promo ; 20 days, 10 SP per day at a specific poker room. Alas my point conversion assumption was wrong and ended up only with 15 qualified days ?( X(
For the record, at Party, $1 rake is equal to 2 PPs is equal to 4.5 SPs.

To be able to gather the points, I had to play a higher stake. Had to move from NL2 to NL4. Of course now I was breaking BRM (10 BI's!!! :f_eek: ) doing this but I also noticed that I was able to handle NL4 like it was NL2 and am getting used to the bet sizes there. :) After a month of NL4 I'm just happy that my BR is still intact.
(Knock on Wood 10X!)

I guess its NL4 from here on! _cool: _cool: _cool: hahaha.

Opened a table and was dealt a broadway at MP...
11 yo son comes along and watch the screen...
flop comes and I have a possible OESD...
I "limp", BU raises 3bbs...
I start to muse for a couple of seconds if I should call...
then my son blurts out with a sudden urgency, Call dad! call! call!

huh??!!! ?(

4 things flash into my mind instantly...
he is so young, where did he learn to play poker?
"WHO" taught him?!
was I being a bad influence to him?
most critical, did he know the odds more than I do??!! is he seeing something I can't?

Calmly, I get some composure, and softly ask... "son why do we call here?"
son says: because...I like to, thats why...call dad!

with some relief in my mind I call, he watches a card fall, then hops along...

then the river comes, and no, I did not get my OESD...

Your son is a calling station. You have failed as a father

Calling station? Failed? Hahaha not quite...

One night while I had a handful of tables opened, which I could hardly cope up with, and while trying to be a TAG so to speak , thereby mostly just looking at my hole cards and just fold, look, fold, look, fold.... my son drops by and looks at what I am so hectic about but see's me just folding and folding, and just after watching me fold for 5 seconds, starts to chant in sync before every fold button I click... in a low voice first, fold, Fold, FOld, FOLd, FOLD! then runs along! You see it only takes 5 seconds to learn this game hahaha

Well, it's been a year since I had started playing on-line poker, I think I just have to jot down things about the first year.

1. Game types. There are many games that I was jumping around trying to make sense which games I like the most or which one I was more successful in. CG, FL, SNG single/multi, 50-50, HU, etc etc, some of the games I haven't tried out yet.

A year later, nada, still don't know which one to should focus on, still switching back and forth.

2. BR and Stakes. While I started out trying NL25 during the first month, (without experience obviously that was a disaster!) this time I play NL4 or sometimes NL10 which is kinder to my BR. I still bust it once in a while but this time the intervals are relatively longer.

3. Failures and successes.
Mostly busting my BR during the first 9 months, had some success in the last 3 months, came in small packets so I'll call them mini-successes :)

You can't call this volume but I'd like to post a graph that goes up; you know the rest, it goes down

Spoiler

For the past year, I have more than 1 of this Poker-God-like-runs, to be precise, I had 2.

Spoiler

This is number 2.
Playing a higher stake NL10 gives me VPPS faster and rewards faster, but without the proper BR bust it, withdraw the rewards and bust them all over again ?(

Spoiler

This is my 2nd tourney win for the year.
This was just from last night where I tried first time the game where Ante's go up instead of the blinds. Was lucky to reach the final table and even luckier when at one point in the game, 3 of the guys suddenly went all in after each other! That left me to my delight, in 5th

So after 1 year , definitely, still learning the ropes... :f_eek:

- found out about heads-up games at Stars several days ago....

- kept playing at it and it seems am doing fine, am not losing, and am winning some (+variance??)... let's see when I crank up the volume...

- am beginning to like this HU thing, only 1 villain to focus on....

- one thing am wonderring about is I received comments like:

- Idiot!
- Donk!
- Wee fish!

This is whenever they raise 2x and I push all-in! _cool: and they fold, it makes them mad like hell :f_eek:
Of course I have something in my hand to back my all-in with, just in case

Have a nice day everyone!!!
