Hi Pleno 1
Can i ask again do you think 3.5 - 5 bb ( depends on sites ) win rate in 200 k hands is good enough sample to move from Nl 25 $ to nl Nl 50 $ i alredy tried once to move up on nl 50$ and i was not doing well -1.5 bb on 80 k hands so i moved down to rebuild my confidence. What do u think is biggest diffference in those two limits ?
Given you don't bumhunt, what BRM do you use/did you used while moving up? As you should face a lot of variance...
When we will see bragging graph?
I can see you have a lot of motivation and a really great mentality towards Poker.
I struggle a lot with my psychology issues. Sometimes I have a hard time keeping the motivation, keeping my A game, etc.
Can you give some info on that? Maybe point out a video/book/article you find to be helpful.
I don't know, I just wish that I could be motivated, focused, happy everytime I hit the tables. I love when I feel that way. BTW, if my graph is going up it's a loot easier have "good days"...

I would start slowly moving up to NL200, in reality there is very little difference. Just table select well and I'm sure it will be fine.I would try and play less tables initially when takign a shot and thinking alot before all decisions, sometimes people play too tight and if they ahd thoguth more they would have came to the rational decision and made the correct call/raise, and some players try to force things too much and think that because they are moving up to nl200 everybody plays like isildur and they need to 7b jam every hand, this never goes well
Take time, poker will be here today, tomorrow, next week, it doesn't matter exactly when you move up, just make sure you are mentally ready, your bankroll is in a good state and you feel happy about your game.feel free to post as much questions about nl200 in this thread. I actually said to somebody I think I'm the best nl200 player in the world ♦ I really think I can put pressure on in the right spots and understand the game dynamics here so well, making dumb raises and 3bets here where they would get eaten up at nl600.
My main tip would be to try to abuse the tight nits as much as possible, put pressure on them and if they call the turn don't continue bluffing the river.
Make sure your HUD is ready and just have fun! I love playing poker with a smile on my face, bouncing up and down a little bit, listening to music and just having a good time, its not all about the money. Enjoy it and crush!
Awesome answer pleno! I am confident to say that you are in the Top 5 of those who made the biggest impact on my game here in PS. Thank you for that
I already knew he was a decent guy, but pleno, by discouraging people from paying for you coaching, because you want to help them for free?!?
Wow
So far I learnt (or at least I was reminded) that we can exploit regs by 4betting a lot, since they 3bet light but don't feel comfortable 5bet shipping light.
Now I would like some pointers about how to abuse NL50 regs in the post flop when we are the PFR, with examples if possible. My questions are always a little vague, sorry about that.
Cheers and keep up the good work!
Hey mate, Sorry to say it but this is a huge mistake. First of all the squeeze is completely fine and think it is totally fine with this hand, although calling may seem desirable, we are going to be c/f too often and hoping for flushes/2 pair for big value. When the sb raises after calling initially they never ever fold here and they are never bluffing. I would actually give him a range of 99+ and a10+ here which we are dominated by. It's actually a really good line to use vs good players, here is an example. UTG raises We flat KQdd from UTG+1 Aggro villain on button squeezes UTG folds We tank and then "new york back raise" grin grin grin with 2 good blockers, a storng range (as we flatted vs UTG we can never have total air) and then shown immensely huge strength. Our range is also not capped at all and he will never 5b bluff us here, we win whats in the middle so often and he may even fold value hands. Makes sense?
Geuss it makes sense. I just didn't put him on a value hand since it didn't make sense to me why he would call a value hand oop without initiative and didn't even consider he might be doing it to trap me to squeeze and risking to play the hand oop without initiative if I didn't squeeze. Would much likely put him on a value hand if he did it from the BU or CU. That's why I thought he most likely have a pair here or an other drawing hand that he is turning in to a bluff.
Epic thread, thanks very much Patrick.
My question is how would you recommend learning to hand read.
I read a lot that it's important to be a good handreader but I'm yet to find much good advice for how to get there. Is it just a matter of experience, paying attention to opening ranges and practicing trying to put people on a range of hands? Any other suggestions?
Thanks very much,
Jon

HUDI think it is SUPER important to have a good HUD. In the past the main problem was that people didn't know how to use one properly, now the main problem is people try to use it TOO much and put TOO much information on their HUD.
You need to have a HUD that is very easy for you to use and set out correctly, having too many stats does not make sense. It also differs depending on how many tables you play etc.
Here is the HUD that I use at the moment, which I really really like.
Name
Total Hands- - - - - - - - -
Tot 3bet
Fold to 3bet
Squeeze- - - - - - - - -
Flop Cbet
Fold to flop Cbet- - - - - - -
EP PFR
MP PFR
CO PFR
BTN PFR
SB PFR- - - - - - -
Tot vpip
Tot pfr- - - - - - - -
Btn steal
Fold to btn stealI then have all my stats coloured perfectly. The lighter the colours the more passive the guy is, the more red the colour the more good/aggro he us and the more purple he is the more of an absolute maniac he is.
Here is a picture of it in my HEM
not so much postflop stats like WTSD/WT$D, fold to check/raise flop IP/OOP etc.
Do you make the decisions based on game-flow/reads rather than stats?
thanks mate
RogervieriYeh, most post flop stuff comes from game flow and notes that I make, although of course for WTSD etc I just hover over my HUD.
As you can probably see from my posts in the thread I'm very much an advocate that 6max no limit is heavily impacted by a good pre flop game plan.
Hi, sorry to continue on the point, but I recently bought HM2 via Pokerstrategy promotion, and I'm trying to set up "the best HUD"
could you at least tell me how you benefit to add the PFR's per position in your HUD?? isn't it easier to have them as a pop-up?? or do you do it on purpose to immediately and quickly see their PFR per position.EP PFR
MP PFR
CO PFR
BTN PFR
SB PFRagain: could you explain how you benefit from this info (how do you exploit this?)
Basically the first thing I look at when somebody opens is their pfr from each position, vs UTG etc I can make a really quick decision that will usually be right. If I have to use a pop up each time I may get lazy or not checj, I generally avoid ever using a pop up, especially pre flop and having the positional stats there for me to use is the best thing I have ever done regarding using a HUD.
I 3bet a lot vs UTG/UTG+1 so having the stats are very important, it also saves me buy ins for example if I have QQ and guy opens UTG, if I have to look at a pop up maybe I just 3b/5b, but if I have it there and see he opens 9% or something then I will just flat.
Also in Zoom if I am in the cut off and I see that the button has a low pfr from the button then I can raise like 95o here profitably but if I don't have it in front of me then I will just sigh, not checking a pop up, 95, fold and miss a +ev spot, even if it is very close.
last question about this, I promise!! ![]()
would it therefore be smart to also add (since ypu are obviously a 3bet maniac ♠_cool: ) the fold3bet per position?
It would look something like this:
Name, hands
--------------
PFR EP
PFR MP
PFR HJ
PFR CO
PFR BTN
PFR SB
-------------
f2 3bet EP
f2 3bet MP
f2 3bet HJ
f2 3bet CO
f2 3bet BTN
f2 3bet SB
--------------
cbet flop
fcbet flop
cbet turn
fcbet turn
WTS
WTS %
or doesn't that make sense?
Questions about multi-tabling cash games here.
1. How many tables do you tend to play at each time?
2. Do you feel it is possible to play more than 6 tables of SH Cash games at one time?
When I was playing, I used to play around 3 (limited screen space). I could maybe have managed 4, but any more than that, I just don't feel like there would be time to play properly. Too much action in too little time. I feel like you'd miss out on profitable spots because of action on other tables
3. At the lower limits, what is the best way to deal with serial multitablers? I know on FTP, I used to check out all my opponents at each table to see how many tables they are playing on. If it was more than 6 I would make sure to target their blinds and 3b them where I could, basically just pressure them because I know they are playing fit or fold and waiting for huge hands. Most of the time they fold to a 3b with low PPs, anything other than QQ+ really. Can't remember if I did the same on ipoker, but it seemes to work well. However, playing their nit style also reduces the action at the tables.
4. When doing well at a limit, would you recommend adding more tables, or taking a shot at the next limit (assuming we are playing 3-4 tables)?

1) Best Flop line? I opted to donk cos I think c/r in 5 way isolates me against sets and flushes only
2) Fold, Shove, Call (and fold on paired turn and 4 flush turn?)

Hey,
It is a great win rate, especially over such a big sample, it probably means you don't have one huge leak. Interesting that you didn't do so well when moving up, how did you plan your game selection? In general you can get away with more dumb bluffs at NL25, so if the board is 277 and you raise a cbet they will just fold their air but continue with SD hands, whilst at NL50 they may play their ranges different and 3bet the flop with KJ or hands that can turn good equity when called, rather than just calling 44 and folding by the river.

Yeh, variance can be a lot higher, I think using 30bi BRM is fine as long as you are ok moving up or down, here is a graph from a few days ago to show that variance offically sucks!

Experience, so many people say wow ugly board, but how do they know? Does it have warts and a fat stomach? Does it smell? No, its an ugly board because they've realised over hundreds of thousands of hands what kind of boards hit different ranges.
Understanding ranges really helps.
I do an exercise with my students that focuses on reading hands.
You can even do it and post back in this thread ![]()
Ok, I want you to pick 5 pre flop examples of hands vs ranges and try and give yourself an estimate of equity that you can expect to have.
So for example, we call a 3bet with KJ v a bb 3bet who has a good polarised 3betting range and 3bets 11%. Do 5 of these and then post back in the thread with your estimates, and we can continue the development from there
