can you earn the 25 strategy points (between Oct 14-27) before making a $50 deposit or do they have to be earned after the $50 deposit?

You must deposit $50 and make the 25 required StrategyPoints in order to participate in this freeroll. I'm not exactly sure whether you can do it backways as you mentioned above but our customer support team will be able to answer this for you

How fast are the strategy points updated on the pokerstrategy site. I mean what is the latest time I need to pay 5$ rake on poker770? Is it Oct 27 23:59 or do I need that up to 24 hours earlier (or even more) as it might take some time for the strategy points being updated?

On http://www.pokerstrategy.com/status-points/ it says

When playing in one of our partner rooms, the StrategyPoints you receive are updated daily, as a rule. However, there may be delays, depending on how quickly the poker room notifies us of your points.

If the strategy points need to be updated by Oct 27 23:59 with pokestrategy and the above sentence is true I quess there is no guarantee I would become eligible for the freeroll if I deposit 50 $ now and generate 5$ rake by Oct 27 morning, am I right?

Further to this as stated in the opening post you have to generate the $5 rake within the deposit period - which ends on October 27th at 23:59 GMT.
