UPDATE

dunno why i keep putting "update" in big bold writing since it's pretty obvious it's an update i'll keep doing it now to stick with the pattern.

finally my DMI bonus on FTP has ended which i am sort of happy about.. i think it made me spew. im going to stop playing rush for a bit and focus on my game properly now. i've been practically breakeven on rush since it reopened! so i can also join the club of people who havent been doing well on FTP lol. i also updated the nl10 graph in my OP, but i cheated - i filtered out nl10 on FTP due to the spew it looks a lot nicer lol.

i'm working on my game as usual and i see constant progress which is always good. busy plugging my leaks and making notes on videos etc. i was doing okay at rebuilding for yet another nl25 shot when i ended up running bad and tilting and running worse and tilting more.. so i was down 11BI which kinda got in the way of my progress.. but i'm glad that it didn't affect me too much. i remember running this bad when i first started playing nl10 and it SUCKED i had to stop playing for a week lol.

i've received almost every component now for my PC build except for the motherboard X( so just waiting for that to arrive tomorrow to start the build. it will be great to be able to play poker in peace in my own space without a TV/interruptions/distractions in the background.

hmm last summer i spent most of the time playing on pokerstars. i also still play there every now and then and i've built up like 4.5k FPPs. they are just sitting in my cashier doing nothing and i know that the stars store is probably a bit of a rip-off so i could do with some advice on how to use them to maximise my value!

i enjoy playing tourneys, but i don't know strategy enough to win through skill so while i know many people say use it to get into tourneys i'm not sure this will be the best thing for me.

also.. it seems i can get $10 per 1k FPPs. that would be nice but i don't want to be ripped off. so does anyone have any suggestions?

Rant Update

i put the title in red to represent my frustration!!!!

so far i have taken 4 or 5 unsuccessful shots at nl€20/nl$25 and have lost a fair portion of my bankroll each time. this is very stressful and i think i'll just stay at nl10 until i can beat it over a big sample. i guess there is no hurry.

spotted a few leaks in my game which i am attempting to plug, but it is very difficult because if i knew what was making me lose money i would stop doing it. it turns out i wasn't cbetting nearly as much as i should be and i explain this by learning more about cbetting and board textures i became paranoid about my opponents hitting and so i just gave up.

another dumb leak is checkraising into BU's cbets when i call out of the blinds - most likely with a small PP. my reasoning is BU has such a weak range on nearly every board that i should be able to successfully play back vs their cbet. wrong! they call down or float me almost always and it's just a stupid thing that i was doing. so i will stop

so... in an attempt to get to the bottom of this i will record each session that i play. the screen will have 4 tables playing and a notepad file next to it where i will write my thoughts (while they are still fresh) on each hand that comes up, whether i win it or lose it. the following morning i will go over the recording with the notes and a fresh mind and see if i can learn and spot patterns.

i find it difficult to learn from just posting hands because it doesnt grasp the game flow and dynamic as well, and i tend to find it difficult to apply the evaluation. with that said, i'll post more in the evaluation boards now that i'm closely monitoring my game.

i can study and study all i like, but if i don't review MY game, then i will never improve. :\ i havent been studying effectively.

but if i can't win if i don't fold, and if i can't win if i DO fold, then doesnt that mean that poker is rigged?

UPDATE

soooo this week i've started reviewing my game a lot and i think it's really helping me in a more practical way than studying and making notes. i think i will stay reviewing my sessions and posting hands now and i'm really happy with all of the hand judges and their willingness to participate in discussion!

the last couple weeks i was feeling really shitty about my game but tbh i think it was just tilt from spewing tons at nl10 on FTP, taking a shot for nl25 and failing yet again and then moving down (or up, however you wanna see it) to nl16 on stars and spewing some more money to fish there too. but then when i filter my DB for nl10 on partypoker and on pokerstars i'm at just over 10bb/100 hands which i'm reeallly happy about. here:

Spoiler

and obviously have to love running over EV :]

i feel like deep down i know what to do in lots of spots but my biggest problem is trusting myself and making the tough decisions when they really count. only time will tell if this is true i guess :f_biggrin:

lol everybody seems to be running badly at FTP so it's most likely rigged.

i just had one of those annoying sessions where absolutely NOTHING i did worked. firing my barrels got called, 4betting my AK OOP got called by some reg (wtf reg?) - probably some dumb slowplay, got set over setted twice. bleurgh BREAK TIME X(

UPDATE

so it seems that i'm still running hot with barely any problems. it just feels that nearly everything i do works out. i squeeze with some trashy hand and get called and decide to cbet the flop? no problem, they just fold and give me the pot

the following is the biggest sigh hand i've played for a while... felt like an easy fold. this damn donkbet is so unpredictable. sometimes it's nuts, sometimes it's air, sometimes it's busted draws. ?( either way, i'm not messing about when deep.

BB: $10.05 (100.5 bb)
Hero (BTN): $13.43 (134.3 bb)
SB: $11.85 (118.5 bb)
UTG: $19.30 (193 bb)
MP: $9.86 (98.6 bb)
CO: $17.50 (175 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 2 2
UTG raises to $0.30, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.30, 2 folds

Flop: ($0.75) 8 2 3 (2 players)
UTG bets $0.54, Hero raises to $1.70, UTG calls $1.16

Turn: ($4.15) A (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $3.20, UTG calls $3.20

River: ($10.55) 6 (2 players)
UTG bets $10.03

Hero folds

and now for one of the best hands of the week. by no means a nice spot to be in but tbh i can't do anything else after playing it this way. villain is a bit fishy and i didnt figure i had a ton of FE on the turn. bit of a sigh call with the NF lol.

UTG: $13.26 (132.6 bb)
MP: $24.25 (242.5 bb)
Hero (SB): $12.81 (128.1 bb)
BB: $8.80 (88 bb)
CO: $20.97 (209.7 bb)
BTN: $11.09 (110.9 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with A 9
2 folds, CO calls $0.10, BTN calls $0.10, Hero raises to $0.50, BB folds, CO calls $0.40, BTN calls $0.40

Flop: ($1.60) 4 Q 4 (3 players)
Hero bets $0.80, CO calls $0.80, BTN folds

Turn: ($3.20) T (2 players)
Hero bets $1.60, CO calls $1.60

River: ($6.40) J (2 players)
Hero bets $4.30, CO raises to $18.07 and is all-in, Hero calls $5.61 and is all-in

Results:

Spoiler

$26.22 pot ($1.00 rake)
Final Board: 4 Q 4 T J
Hero showed A 9 and won $25.22 ($12.41 net)
CO showed 5 8 and lost (-$12.81 net)

MUST BE CHRISTMAS!!!!!! :f_cool:

i so far have ~40k hands at nl10. i will not rush my way into nl25 and keep playing at nl10 and trying to improve. even if i manage to get ~30 stacks for nl25 i'll probably stay at nl10 until i have a decent 100k hand sample on party & stars. been much more active in the hand eval forum the last week and i'm really enjoying just picking out a few tough hands from the sessions to talk about.

i will also start learning some HU SnG strategy. supposedly it's really good for your game and it will keep things interesting i guess!

not much else to report!
