How do you guys find this play? I Put my opponent on a flush draw at worst and the king at best. Figured I was getting okay odds on the call as the big stack and had a re-draw for trips

Hi odin444,

Firstly, with the caveat that it is not necessary, you can shove preflop here and it's profitable. If I make it 180 as you did here im calling either of their shoves as you have committed alot to the raise anyway and you're flipping so often...sometimes you're even ahead when someone shoves 22 or A2/A3 on you. As a standard it's not necessary to make a full 3x raise here against stacks of these sizes, and i would generally raise/call rather than raise/fold unless i believe these players are massive nits.

Its an interesting spot as played, the pot is bloated as you made a 3x raise preflop and your flop bet of greater than half pot leads me to want to call here also, i think he can have lots of 'silly' hands also, i see people shove 9T and stuff in this spot, I think he will have a king sometimes, and sometimes he will have 44-77 that he was silly enough not to shove preflop, but overall I think you're correct in saying you're getting the odds vs his entire range, it just sucks cuz you will either have around 50% or 10% equity in most cases. But yes I'm fine with a call here as played.

Awesome. Thanks a lot for going over that in as much detail as you did. Really helpful information. Definitely in the future I will reduce my raises at that blind level
