My Losing Hand (left me with 1BB)

I had A 
6 at the Cut Off. Just me and another guy left at the flop, he was in early position.
The flop came:

I was concious of the 2 spades but my opponent checked, I raised just under half the pot (I cannot recall the exact figure), he fumbled around for a minute and called.
Turn:
9
I became less suspicious as he checks again. I make a rather large raise he calls.
River:
K
He makes a big bet,which would leave me with 1BB.
I should have noticed the passive pre-river play and the aggression on the river. But I was a little excited as I'm not too experienced in Live Play.
I call. 
He pulled out a flush 9 & 10 on the River which trumped my two pair. (I'll be posting this in the Hand Evaluations but I thought it was relevant.
Did I play this hand right up to the River? I know I messed up and it cost me the game.
