Do you think I was correct to check the river here? I felt that only a better hand would call river as my two pair has lost value now ?

I think I would bet bigger on flop, but you are asking about river check, which in my opinion is the way to go. It is really annoying that even 67o wins that pot now :f_frown: however you still have some sd value v. drawing hands that didn't get there. If you bet, I doubt you are making showdown value hands that called on flop and turn fold with such a board, and missed draws won't call your bet...so I would check and hope

Good check. With two nines on the board our hands is not strong at all. To bet for value would be too thin.
