Turns out I lost some files, not very important ones, but still some nice thing. Last 2 days I'm quite frustreated because of this, wile actually I should not care that much imo. Definately my mind is sometimes a bit stuck in the past. When I play poker I don't feel this way, but I think it does influences my game and increases the chance of tilting.
It's very difficult for me tot define the problem. I've always seen myself als quite bright and capable of figuring things out by myself, but still I'm sturggling with some negative patterns. Don't realy know how to solve this., but I'm going to think about it.

5) Yes I realy should :P I think I'm a bit to lazy sometimes. Not as lazy as the avg pokerplayer i suppose, but still to lazy. Workouts etc are also part of the plan I'm going to work out.

Hey again!

Glad you like the stuff so far :)
If you have any difficulties implementing them just let me know...

4. I highly recommend Mindfulness practice as part of your daily routine. Have a read through of this article and see what you think and how this applies to your exact issue :) Looking forward to hear what your impression of it is..

5. Ok, so here I'm going to challenge you a bit and say that there is no such thing as laziness. Write down all the areas in you life where you feel "laziness" is an issue. Can you any similarities in those areas? Are there any characteristics that are always present?

Cheers and keep up the good work! :)

Hi!

4) Oke, ty, I will do this sometime in the upcomming days. I'll keep you posted :)

5) Interesting statement :P

Areas:
- Study; definately being lazy here. Every semester I plan on keeping up, every semester I find myself a couple weeks before the exam unwraping the plastic that covers the books. I don't realy know why I am just not getting some dicipline in this area. Maybe because I don't realy like the topics that are being discussed the majority of the time.

- Poker; studying in poker can be tough sometimes. Same problem as above but different cause. Ofcourse I see poker as facinating game, so I don't mind to learn. However, most days I find myself in a condition in which I just do not feel in the mood to study. On these days I play poker in order to play poker and I am more likely to tilt/lose.
To go a bit deeper; why do I not feel like improving in something I like to improve in? I think this is because I am to tired at these moments, but not tired enough to go to bed. Doing something like watching tv seems like a waist of valuable time, however, Im not capable of playing my a-game at poker.

- Social/family; Sometimes I just enjoy doing things that have to be done at home, like returning rented movies or cleaning something up. On other days I am very enoyed when I am ask to do a thing like the latter. If I am feeling happy/healthy/... I'm not complaining, if I am tired/bored/enoyed by sth, I am very likely of getting enoyed by a minor task.
Same with friendships, some days I feel like investing in some friendship wile on other moments I could not care less.

So I think my definition of 'lazy' is something like:
Lacking the interest of maximizing my effort due to my emotional/physical state of being.
At the same time I still sit down at the poker table/do a task, just because I feel like I should not waist my time by doing nothing.

I think this whole pattern is being influenced by my eating/sleeping patterns. (just an assumption of mine, could be incorrect)

Im curious about your reaction.

Little update:

* Today I missed my sleeping target for the first time. It was unavoidable realy, since i went to bed at a ridiculous time. Tomorrow I'm going to miss it again, because I just missed so much sleep last couple days. Not happy about this.

** Eating pattern adaptions go steady eddy imo. I think I'm eating slightly more healthy then before. I definately drink less crap then before and the 2cup's of coffee a day works great. Today I was realy tired, so i drank more coffee, but i did not help a bit. Maybe I should start to restrict on 1cup/day since it is just not that great for your body.

Session warmup did work yesterday. Today i passed them. (yes I played poker, although being not In a very great physical state.) I am quite sure that my game was not as great as it could have been if i'd not had passed the warm up.

* Session cool down is realy tough to accomplish. It is just the most major adjustment. I hope I can permenantly implement this, starting at the next session.

Hey there, jumping in a little bit ;).

It's probably because of your last sentence ;). If there are other, more important things to you than studying, it's likely that you're going to be doing those instead. Not many people actually study every single day, but it's not impossible either - it's mostly a matter of habits and priorities.

- Poker; studying in poker can be tough sometimes. Same problem as above but different cause. Ofcourse I see poker as facinating game, so I don't mind to learn. This makes perfect sense ;). It seems to me that you tend to do the most of your studying/poker work in the evenings. How about doing these things right after you wake up (when you don't have lectures)?

This way, you can get a lot of work done as soon as possible and in the evenings you can just relax/do whatever you want because you will have done everything you wanted to do ;).

Of course this is easier said than done, so what you can do to get started is:

1. before you go to bed, decide what you're going to be working on next morning
2. prepare for this. If you want to do a session review, open hold'em manager and put your pc to hibernate when you go to sleep. once you wake up and turn on the pc, HEM will be waiting there for you.
3. it's crucial that you get used to doing the important things before checking e-mails, fb, browsing the internet, etc., becuase if you you start any of those activities, it's likely that you'll just waste an hour or two.

So you can commit to working on your game for at least 15minutes each morning first thing in the morning, and then after 2 weeks move on from there and start increasing the amount.

- Social/family; Sometimes I just enjoy doing things that have to be done at home, like returning rented movies or cleaning something up. On other days I am very enoyed when I am ask to do a thing like the latter. If I am feeling happy/healthy/... Same with friendships, some days I feel like investing in some friendship wile on other moments I could not care less.

It seems to me that the cause that needs to be worked on here is mostly the tiredness/annoyedness/boredom, which should generally be avoided to begin with. I'm sure that Erik will be able to give you some advice here :).

Lacking the interest of maximizing my effort due to my emotional/physical state of being.

This is indeed very very likely :).

It seems to me that you're trying to adapt many new habits at once, and this could be dangerous unfortunately :(. I do understand that you want to change your life as soon as possible and improve, but doing too many things at once can be setting yourself for failiure.

So if you are having problems with this, i strongly suggest that you make 1 or 2 habits the top priorities and really focus on them, and keep the others optional until you've been working on your first 1 or 2 habits for at least 2 weeks and you feel like you've gotten used to them ;).

Slow and steady wins the race!

Tyvm :)

On study: you are right here. I figured i could better make things interesting for myself in order to get some work done.

On poker:
I do a lot in the evenings. Rest of the day i just watch poker vids/ study/ do some sport or sth. I'd like to play poker at night because of the weak fields. Imo is playing in the morning not realy a +ev option. It's just a regfest.
The plan of being more productive in the morning and afternoon sounds great. I'm currently thinking of planning in time for study+ pokerstudy in the morning and afternoon, but then on a more structured way then before.

I'd like the 3 step plan you made and im going to experient with it. I think ill just devote the first hours of the day to studying (since i dislike this the most) and not turn on my pc before the work is done. This will prevent my from waisting time, just like you said :)

The plan of working on my pokergame every single day sounds great too. It would be nice If I were able to make it a habit. :)

Yeah kinda got myself in the way of adjusting to many things at once. In the future I will try to aim for just a couple things and not get any further in until im diciplined enough.

This week I will focus on:
-getting at least 6 out of 7 days up before 9.
-eating at least 6 ou of 7 days only 3 meals a day + fruit.

Next things next week :)

Thanx for the advice.

Progress

Today and yesterday I did my warmup before the session. I made some adaptions:

1) go to toilet to prevent missing out on action in session
2) grab a glass of cold water
3) 10 very slow mindful pushups. I try to clean my mind totaly.
4) Sit like 30 sec with eyes closed, think of what my focus point will be and check for mental stability.
5) Close down all crappy programs, put mobile phone somewhere where i can't see/here it
6) Check the Master List with leaks i need to work on and put some of them in my session list.
7) Goooo

I am just flabbergasted with the effects. Yesterday I played 1k hands without losing focus. Today I was a bit more tired, played 1k hands again but needed to focus a bit more. However, last weeks I would play max 500 hands a game and then slide into b-game. This is a major improvement.

My redline is preforming better too now (small sample but still quite a bit in the +, while before b/e)

Only think I need to practise more is my cooldown. Think i have to make it some sort of habit. Currently I'm laying more focus on warmup then cooldown. Maybe once I made warming up a habbit, I can shift this distribution of effort.

Ciaoo

Warming up starts paying off. My other resolutions don't work out super great. This week i had a lot of difficulty with comming out of bed before 9. Think i missed it 2 or 3 times. Also the plan of eating only 3 meals a day failed a little bit. Missed that one 2 times i think.
The only thing I rly manage to hold is the less-coffe plan (avg 1 cup/day i think, and maybe 2/3 glasses of coke this week).

Next week I'm going to try to get out of bed on time more often. I'm just going for 7 out of 7 days. I hope I can stick to 3meals a day, we will see how it will turn out :)

Someone anny opinnion on listening music while in session? :)

I usually put on some stream of mixes. Not radiochannels, because u might get distracted by the dj's talking in between.

And of course not loud music, i.e. hardcore, metal etc :P

U might like Philizz.nl, nice amount of mixes of popular music. Otherwise they are nice to have running on the background during a party. :f_biggrin:

Yeah mixes work quite fine, but i rather have some slow and relaxing music on. Think I played almost every hand I played in 2012 with coldplay on the background Still doing that, but sometimes trowing in mumford and sons.

Hey!

Have had trouble login in...

When it comes to music look at it like a tool that can help you balance out your inner state. If you are auto piloting and don't have enough inspiration and motivation in a session, use a playlist with music you like to fire you up, upbeat.

If you are feeling tilted and have excess emotions and negative thoughts ry to use music that calms you. If i's classical, chillout or whatever isn't really important. What works for you? I prefer to not have music with lyrics since it gives the brain more o focus on in the song.

But it is important you actively put some effort into creating the playlist before you play so you don't have to search for he music. while playing :)

See that all of these areas are areas where you are emotionally invested in some way. There are negative implied odds. With poker it is obvious, with studying it can be harder for us if we put a lot of work in and still fail, thats is harder on our ego. With family feelings are always involved and we often feel we should or should be a certain way, or they should or shouldn't be a certain way. Whatever it might be, look at the similarities here and realist that the "resistance" you feel is holding you back from doing the positive thing that you know will help you evolve. Use that feeling of resistance as a compass to what you need to work on.

Does that make sense? :)

Hey again,

I agree with Erik on the music part. Sorry for a bit late of an answer, was in Vienna and Bratislava and wasn't on my PC for more than 30minutes total.

As for your waking up problems, have I given you a link to this article yet? It could help you a lot with your problem :).

No problem, sorry for my late reply too :)

Thanx for the advice, I always tend to be more focussed when I listen to 1 particulair type of music. I'm definately going to creat a 'poker-playlist'.
