Villain 26/21/BU steal 51%/foldto3bet 36%/af 1,8/afq 40,41,25/fold2cb 44%/fold2turncb 40%/481 hand

I barreled turn because I thouht I could get him of from better hands like 9x and my hand isn't enough strong to c/c 2 streets.

River? Push is not an option I think. C/C or C/C?

He maybe push 9x here to get me off from Kx?!

Hi,

Why are you 3betting preflop? Do you think he 4bets such a high % that 3bet/5bet is higher value than just flatting preflop? Does 88 play particularly well in 3bet pots OOP? I'd usually call pre.

I'd just give up turn. How many 9x does he have compared to Kx? Would he fold 9x with a diamond? Does he also have such as flushes (Axss and SCs)? Does he have a lot of hands such as QJ/JT with a diamond that floats flop that won't fold? You're basiclly aiming to fold out like A9o, and 98s-J9s. It's not gonna work. Just check and decide.

As played on the river, just fold. He won't turn Kx into a bluff I don't think. He doesn't get to the river with 9x without a diamond (if he did then your turn barrel really didn't achive a whole lot!).

Hey ifs,

Don't u think villain can float wide with hands like u said, QJ, AXss on the flop which could make a turnbet fine? Or not enough compared to midPP, Kx, 9x, flush?

The guy is only folding 36% to resteals from the BTN,. Shouldn't that favor a c/call OTT more since he will probably have all QJ, T8s, JTs (and maybe even JTo) and then maybe also hands like AT-AQ with the BDnutFD? Kinda sucks OTR if he fires again though..

Thoughts?

We could c/c turn, but like you said most rivers will be pretty gross... I mean if he literally floats any gutter, any pair, most Ax then I think just check/folding the flop has to be correct. We just won't be able to make money against such a wide calling range on the flop.

Good points.

And as for preflop: Can't we argue the 3bet is good here since the guy is calling so wide that we are most likely ahead against his calling range? Playability is obv not the best on many boards, but I am just wondering because I know quite q few coaches advocates 3beting in these situations with a hand like 88.

And while we on the topic of 3betting. Against this callhappy guy how would you construct you resteal range here? ATo+, KT+, 99+, A9s+?

Well I certainly wouldn't advice 3betting 88 here, I think the lack of playability by far makes up for any kind of required we might have versus his calling range.

Versus somebody who calls a lot of 3bets... I guess AJ+, ATs+, 99+ seems reasonable.
