$5.50 trips vs big river bet

Hi Brade,

On the flop you should make it a 2/3 of the pot to maximize value. The board has some draws and you want to get as much value as you can from hands that are possibly calling.

As played turn bet is good. Making it 2/3 of the pot again is good.

On the river we should play bet/fold. T is really an ugly card for us and completes a lot of villains possible draws.

By betting out we are getting value from all of the made hands we are winning, Ax, Qx, two pairs and such. If we check we are giving him a free showdown with all of those holdings that we should be squeezing value out of.

On the T I don't see him bluffing us often when you check to him. Only draw that has not hit something is 75. The only other hands he might turn into a bluff here are small pockets. So most of the time by checking here we are just giving villain a cheap showdown with his pair or his two pairs.

As played we really find ourselves in a tough spot. I would opt for a fold since the only thing we really beat in villains range is an unlikely 75 or a strangely played set or an under pair. Players also have the tendency to only make these river pot bets with made draws unless their line is really screaming out a different story ( In this particular hand his whole line makes it very possible for villain to be holding two hearts or even a 97).

You need to be winning this hand ~40% of the time to make this call. I think we are winning it way less often. So a fold for me.
