Hi Brade,

nh wp.

After my 3-bet what should BB calling range be here? BTN has been abusing the bubble regularly.

BB should be calling very tight here due to being hugely risk averse and because of how tight your pushing range is. QQ+ or even as tight as KK+ should be your range here as the BB if you know SB isn't shoving some nonsense here.

When button starts to open up his open range a bit and starts to raise/fold a lot of hands. both if BB folds and if BB calls.. Then BB can loosen up slightly. We have to have some real weird ranges to be capable of making a profitable call with AK in bb here when we have a regular shoving in the sb.

F.e. if button opens 100% of hands (Which I don't think is likely here at all... unless we have specific reads) and only calls 30% of hands when BB folds and only 19% of hands when BB calls. In that scenario it's likely that you (in the sb here) start widening you're own range a bit. Shoving something like 66+ A9+ A7s and KQ might be your loosest range here.
With those ranges BB can call JJ+. But is loosing a lot of equity calling with AK.

Any reads help a lot here but QQ+ looks like a fine range for bb calling. Making a scenario with ranges where AK becomes a good call for BB is a pretty weird one. Most likely BU on this buy in level is only opening up around 50% of the time and he's probably over calling with top 20% of hands.

Hopefully this wasn't too confusing. I had a nice field day with SnG wizard on this one.
Feel free to ask me any questions,

ps. I'm answering what BB optimal range would be. As if you were sitting in the BB. If your question was "What are we expecting BB to call with" I'm sorry. But in that case we are always expecting unknowns on that limit to get it in with something like TT+ AK+. Even wider sometimes.

Hi Hlynkinn,

Thanks for taking your time with the detailed analysis! Much appreciated.

Ye you were correct I was judging what the BB should call if I was in that spot.

And ye on wiz I make it QQ+ calling range for BB given BTN is opening 40% calling 17%, and SB shoving as wide as 14% given BTN's looseness.

Thanks again _thumbsup:
