SB posts SB $0.50, BB posts BB $1.00

Pre Flop: (pot: $1.50) Hero has J♣ 6♥ K♦ Q♥

UTG raises to $3.50, MP calls $3.50, fold, Hero calls $3.50, SB calls $3.00, fold

River%s: ($200.00, 2 players) 8♣ UTG bets $197.20, fold

UTG wins $197.20

UTG was very active preflop but not as much postflop, in particular, he has been Cbetting almost every flop, but usually not continuing on the turn. we also had kind of a history, with me 4betting him light and than suck outing on him after the stack off on the flop, so possibly he might have beet tilting as well and thinking i'm a fish. i saw him once potting with an absolut monster in a 3bet pot.

what do you think about the smallish raise on the turn?
on the river, i guess, there is no way i can call :f_confused: he actually bet very quick

This is a hand you could probably write an essay about. Reads are certainly very important in situations like this.

A few things to consider:

Villain might assume the river is a scare card for you. This is because typically if you had 2 pair or a set on the flop he might expect you to raise there rather than just call.

Villain almost certainly has a king when he calls your raise on the turn. You narrowed his range considerably here. Calling again on the turn isn't a bad option if you feel he barrels a lot. You could also consider minraising the turn as this might induce a 3 bet on the turn plus it keeps villain's range wider as he may feel this looks extremely suspicious from you.

Villain isn't going to pay you off much on the river if he doesn't improve. Taking a line of raising the turn will mean when you still have the best hand villain will check/fold. If you just call it's possible the money you would have made with a turn raise villain will put in on the river instead (taking a bet/fold line) so you don't lose anything but you do have the potential to gain by taking this line as villain may bluff on the river with hands he would otherwise fold to your turn raise.

I think this is such a good spot to flat on the turn with the nuts as it allows you to float in future in the same spot. Villain may well fear you slowplaying the nuts and give up on the river in future spots allowing you to win with bluffs.

Finally I will point out that a lot of players who bet very fast do so because they want you to think they have the nuts when they do not.
