nl10 sh 98s checkraise flop

I think in the SB, 3-betting 89s is much better than flat-calling as it's at the bottom of your calling range. In the BB i would flat-call because your getting good odds.

In this case it's ok to C/R or C/C with C/C being slightly better because villain seems loose-passive so you can expect him to shut down a lot.
You should definitely barrel on the turn after the C/R. With the C/R and turn bet you can get him to fold 99-JJ, but i don't expect him to fold QX or a flush-draw on the turn so you will have to Jam the river if you want him to fold.

ah i see. yeah i normally 3bet it but its just a minraise so i thought calling was ok. i feel a little uncertain about check/calling here because i have no SDV atm and i don't really know what to do on various turns. i guess the plan is check/call flop, check turn and lead river?

and if he bets IP on the turn what is your plan? if we expect him to be passive then checkraising doesnt make sense since he has a hand if he fires twice and we dont have much FE then. but then check/calling the turn feels like spew unless we get the direct pot odds. but even then being OOP sucks because if we call flop and turn and hit the river, our only real option is to donk out because i expect passive guys (and a lot of guys on nl10 in general) to check back many hands once the flush comes in. so thats why i didn't wanna call the flop because by checkraising at least i can generate some FE on the flop and just take the pot down.

At higher stakes, min raising on the button is the norm.

1) because he is passive you can expect him not to barrel you, a C/R is better vs an aggressive opponent that's going to barrel.

2) you have equity so you can C/C and if he checks back the turn you can fire the river.

3) If he bets the turn look at your implied odds and what card came.

4) your C/R should be balanced with some nut hands and you have very few nut hands in your range with the pre-flop flat.
