Hi,
25-26 june report
played time - 186 minutes
hands played - 2131 hands
$ made or lost - won $234.87
EV change - won 295.34
boomed one KsKc hand so thats a free $100. was busy meeting some friends lately so been playing very little. probably need to have a more balanced lifestyle. i realised i suddenly play alot and then suddenly meet friends alot. that is not good because the more i play the more the quality of play drops. and the more i meet my friends the less "happiness" i derive from each consecutive meeting within a short period of time because i already got my "mix with friend fix".
i guess i need to plan my time better so that i regularly alternate between meeting friends and playing poker and exercise. i have a tendency to one particular activity too much until i get sick of it.
i need... 4100VPP in the next 4 days if i am going to make diamond on pokerstrategy this month. together with the zoom boom hands i think i have just enough motivation to make it past the mark.
Thought i should pen down some of my thoughts... regarding my goals in life. I'm not too sure what they are but i have a rough idea.
i relate to this guy because he plays zoom nl500, im at nl200 now so this seems closer to me although the $$$ is much less than many other high stakes players>>>
heres a picture of his graph

there are many better people out there but I think this guy is the closest target i can actually see myself reaching in the near future. i am trying out NL200 now... so NL500 is not too far away compared to the other high stakes players playing NL5000. i can clock 130k hands in a month... but i am usually too lazy and clock closer to 80-100k hands which is unacceptable but... I'm still trying to work on that.
usually i see people with 100+K incomes i cant relate too i dont think too much but this guy with a 50k income... feels so close and i started to imagine what i would do with a USD50k/month income. I think it helps to visualise the goal i know what im doing towards everytime i open the tables.
Things to do with USD50k income
1. Return my parents $20k for my university education and another 20k for the failed business i did in food and beverage business.
2. Give/consider to give 100k to my ex-gf (hopefully gf not sure) to break her bond with her current job as a teacher. it really sucks to see her work so hard towards a job that was never going to be much of a future for herself. i respect what she does for the children but i dont respect what shes doing for herself and her time and income. she is working like 12 hour days and 70% of that time is spent in non-productive tasks that could have been passed over to someone with a lower income(maybe paying someone US1000 to do it would do) . shes getting somewhere around US3000 per month and no matter how hard she works shes probably never going past US10,000 per month because of how the government system works. she does not have a first class honours at a top university in a top course which means her pay is most probably going to reach US4000-5000 regardless of her effort.
3. increase my insurance coverage to 2 million for death, accident and critical illness and whatever else. Currently the premiums I am paying is about 200/month for 600k in death and 300k in accident and critical illness and i dont think thats enough for my parents and future wife/kids. they are probably going to need much more $$$ accounting for increasing costs.
4. A condominium in Thailand. probably going to cost me about 100k, but can do with a 10-20k downpayment.
5. a condominium in Singapore. this is pretty far away. not sure if i can do this even with a 50k income.
6. Car in thailand and singapore.
7. Fill my wallet with 5000-10,000 in cash. i like the idea that i carry around $$$ and have the power to spend at anytime more money that my peers earn in a month. no real reason to do this except that i feel powerful about it, its an ego thing. i mean i could have done the same with my credit card but the cash feels much better.
I found myself having alot of challenges and get distracted very often no matter how much i try to play poker. i mean i dont think its on purpose. its stupid to try to play and then distract myself. i am not that dumb. i am beginning to suspect i have ADHD.
there is this successful person who wrote about managing her illness (i have read many more and it appears i am showing very similar symptoms) >>> http://www.erica.biz/2012/failure-success/
i am very concerned because this kind of illness is taken very seriously in singapore, i dont give a shit what people think of me but im more concerned about whether my insurance coverage would be affected. and the drug they are prescribing is similar to cocaine. i wanted to try to get it from other sources but isn't that smuggling drugs? getting hanged for trying to solve my possible medical problem in an alternative way sounds dumb. maybe ill go to a neighbouring country and get diagnosed, or pay some money for a private diagnosis in singapore such that my insurance company does not find out.
went to malaysia on the 8 July... ordered a stingray and i was asking for the biggest possible portion. usually the answer would be something like... 20 rinngit or 30 rinngit. and when i ask can order bigger they would respond something like cannot or you hae to order 2. but this person responded to me 30 rinngit, 40 rinngit, 50 rinngit, 60 rinngit? how big you want? i like how he was willing to adjust to customer needs. and i asked for the skin to be removed and less bones. he responded that it was not possible (i knew they dont do it because i asked other vendors many times) but 5 minutes later he came back and said he was able to remove the skin, and the portion given to me as less bones than usual. i was so very satisfied. i mean the food is pretty ok, but the service was excellent. i am definitely going back there again and bringing my friends. the place is at sri tebrau malaysia.
went to a poker game on 9 July... it was fantastic. i bought in for 300 on a stake and cashed out 762. but really the winnings is probably nothing to speak of compared to online poker since its more convenient and we have more tables, less variance and every other good thing. but hey the environment was pretty fantastic. i suppose i played for... 6-7 hours? and they probably took like 50 dollars rake from me. but pokerstars take more. i was not exactly trying to play poker... i was trying to... de stress and relax and the environment was great. they were very friendly, ensured we had drinks and was cold, constantly asked if we needed anything every 2 hours and bought food. i think i took like... 10 bottles of cold water, 1 pack of salted fish fried rice and 3 packets of soya bean. and on top of that they had some sort of "rebate" that gave me back 15 dollars. i mean 15 dollars is not much, but they actually bothered to try something to make us happy. they had this errand boy waiting there at the call of a bell that comes in immediately and buys whatever we wants. and guess what? the host pays for it. im guessing from the 50 dollars he rakes from me... probably 10 dollars go into the food... and maybe 10-15 into manpower? sounds like a reasonable deal to me. and the people there were really very very friendly. they spoke all sorts of entertaining stuff that i would actually be willing to pay some money for the food just to sit down and hear them talk. but hey here we have someone else paying for us.
and dont forget i am in singapore. singapore is very well known for their poor services, sometimes even if you pay them a little more. and here i am getting treated like a king. theres a TV outside always running and you can watch if you like and the aircon is pretty cooling and there are jackets for you if you are feeling cold and even a handphone recharge center.
one thing for sure, even if you pay me 300-500 a day i will not run this place, its just too much effort.
I am feeling... very sad as I write this post today. Family is very important to me... and I highly value my family members and friends. I think many of my friends would vouch for me. Most of the things I do in my life carry the spirit of improving my family and my friends lives. The results I get... are also because of my friend's help towards me. I don't seem to be able to work on too many useful things myself. I don't know why.
NO PICTURES OR REFERENCES WILL BE PROVIDED TO PROTECT HER CONFIDENTIALITY.
However... my girlfriend recently left me... sometime in may.... her name is FL.
before i go anywhere with this story, i just want to recount the lovely moments i had with her, from 6 October 2006 until May 2013. She is the most wonderful person I ever met in my life.
Never have I met another person who cared so much for me. Sometime in 2007-2008, i wanted to invest in a forex course which costed about 5000. i had some money but i already invested that in another forex course. I spoke to FL about this investment and she was ready to just give me that 5000. I took it and invested it in the course. She said the money was for me. there was no need to return it. 5000 is alot of money when we are 19-20 years old. it was probably >50% of the entire sum in her bank account at that time i recall... but she trusted me and just gave it to me. I had no idea of how i was going to return it. i did not know how to make a promise to return it because i had no plan. but she trusted me. 1 year went along without any success... she never did once ask me for the money or press for it, and there were no changes in the way she treated me. If she told me money did not matter at all, i would 100% believe in her. some time later in 2010... i managed to start a successful business and made about 5-6k in the first month. the first thing i did was to transfer the 5000 i owed her back to her account immediately.
over the 7 years... i think i received about.. 25 letters from her... every letter was written very sincerely and reflected upon the experiences we shared together... and it showed the utmost sacrifice. i recall at the start of the relationship at 2006, i was still seeing my ex girlfriend SW. though she expressed concerns... the love that came from her was able to overcome that and she told me she was willing to wait for me ( i was already with FL) and she was willing to understand that i still wanted to meet SW. It took some time before i finally cut all ties with SW and fully focus on building the relationship with FL.
i made it a point to deliver value to her wherever i could in her life... but perhaps i fell short of certain tasks like sending her home... i did that less and less... because i thought it was not important. and focused on building her life, career etc but maybe that was not what she really wanted.

where was the game held at? Or maybe if u reveal it here they will kena raided by police
then again this is a euro forum
Reminder List of why FL is not for me (Supposed to help me cope with the break up, lets try)
1. She is unable to make MAX EV decisions and instead settle for the ones with less variance, example getting a job.
2. She does not appreciate the major improvements i made in her life.
3. She shows bad attitude such as meeting me late and leaving early during activities she may not enjoy.
4. She hides her phone from me and requests privacy and secretly goes out with other guys without informing me and says that is privacy.
5. She has little aims in her life. She just wants a job and hope for promotion.
6. She has a lack of understanding of the world, she does not acknowledge changes around her that affects her job.
7. She is unable to distant herself from bad friends who abuse her, causing herself to suffer emotionally and have a lack of time for people important to her.
8. She is doing very little to help me in my life, while i do a lot in her life.
Number 4: good bye, have a nice life.
conversely, you cannot have a list of things that make or break a relationship.
I could say much about some of the others but wont, it's not my relationship.
I hope you can move on with nice memories of what you had, they are what make us better people.
Mal.

maybe... i should go thailand... you guys are important to me...
something... everyone has been telling me that i managed to come to terms with...
My Emotional intelligence is close to that of a retard so it takes alot of time for me to try to understand...
1. you can choose to love somebody, but you cannot choose that they love you back, it does not work that way
2. Shit comes, you have to keep calm and make the best decisions. I knew this already, never had a hit so hard, but that does not change this fact.
3. Dont worry about what you cannot change. Keep focus on what you can.
Thank you my friends.

Thanks but the graph is not mine though I'll love to have something like that.
I hope you reach playing NL500 stakes soon and earn some nice $$$ that you then can cash out and carry around ♦
I checked out your website and the food doesn't look that tasty, but might be interpreted differently in Singapore
Good luck!

Hi!
Thanks for your encouragement Timmay! Did not go so well at the start but improving now!
Hi guys,
i recently learnt that many of my personal mistakes and other's mistakes are pre flop and on the flop. my personal stats were somewhere along the lines of 25/22 previously and i realised that
1. i was not calling enough in most spots especially the BB
2. some hands that were profitable i did not raise
3. some hands that i raised were not profitable
so i made up a chart for myself and thought it was good to share with the community, detailing the ideal opening ranges from all positions assuming we are first to act and action is all folded to us.
i also made up a chart playing the SB and BB vs BU open assuming he opens 2.5bb with a 50% range.
please comment on it if you find something that can be improved. i am still in the process of adjusting my ranges to suit this "ideal" range.
opening ranges
red is for always raise, yellow is for raise when the conditions are right, for example weak players in the blinds

SB BB DEFEND RANGES
red is for 3bet, yellow is for call. this is a little tricky though, i think against the regular min opens we have to call more hands and 3bet the weaker ones, and for the larger 3bb opens we have to call less and 3bet stronger hands.
